  • Space should take a back seat to other issues

Yes, the government should prioritize the spending that is allocated to space exploration. There are more important ventures that the government should be focused. One such venture would be education. Instead of trying poke around and discover life forms in space they should be attempting to educated the life forms here on earth.

  • Yes, space exploration is cool.

Yes, governments should prioritize spending for the exploration of space, because it is something that private business cannot do well on its own. Exploring space is something that man has always had an impulse to do. There might be things in space that provide new medicines or energies for people on earth. It is a good thing for government funding.

  • Space is the final fronteir.

People will eventually rue the day their country quit trying to explore the stars. Outer space is the future of everything. The Earth is not permanent and it will not sustain us forever. The countries that put the most effort into getting in to space and colonizing it will reap the most benefits. Space exploration should be funded by the government.

  • Governments should prioritize spending on the exploration of space.

Governments should prioritize spending on the exploration of space. There is still a lot left to explore and we should be taking the opportunity to do that. We should be still traveling to space and not giving everything to another country. I think we should reopen our space program and continue on with the missions.

  • Science spending is efficient

A massive amount of money is spent daily on domestic issues at every level, almost always accompanied by massive inefficiencies and waste. Spending on science is done more efficiently than any other type of spending. A massive expansion in NASA funding during the 50s and 60s led to huge leaps in aeronautics and computer science, adding massive amounts of knowledge to humanity.

  • Yes, We Need To Think About The Future

Yes, governments should definitely prioritize spending on space exploration. As our planet continues to change due to human interaction (climate change, pollution, etc), humans will increasingly need to think about future generations. At a certain point, our planet may not be able to sustain life as we know it, and we may one day need to travel to a new planet to colonize.

Even if the planet can stabilize or humans change our impact on the environment, we should still be exploring space. We may find new resource for energy, or even new life forms.

  • It isn't needed

It is just a waste of money, for example, The construction of the ISS in 1998, estimated at $100 billion USD, has been highly criticized for its limited contribution to both space travel and science. The main purpose of the ISS, which will remain in orbit until 2015-2020, was to conduct scientific research and explore the long-term effects of space on the human body, in order to gage the feasibility of a trip to Mars or space colonization. WHO CARES ABOUT WHAT IS GOING ON IN SPACE?

  • Space isn't needed

It is just a waste of money. If the Earth is so poorly understood, how can any other galaxy be within our reach? The construction of the ISS in 1998, estimated at $100 billion USD, has been highly criticized for its limited contribution to both space travel and science. • Take Care of Earth First

Instead of taking care of Mars or Pluto first, why doesn't NASA and the ESA put money towards feeding the hungry or housing the homeless? Instead of exploring the outer reaches of space, we need to be concerned with issues on our own planet so we can take care of our most vulnerable citizens.
