Gay marriage: Is the case against gay marriage simply discriminatory?

  • Open your eyes, anti-lgbt activists.

We will never win this argument about how gays don't have the right to be free from discrimination if we keep pretending that anti-LGBT activists aren't discriminating.

Gay rights activists claim the First Amendment and private property rights, if affirmed, will amount to discrimination against gays.

    Guess what? They're right.

Discriminate: making a distinction for or against a person or thing. That’s what it means to discriminate. Synonyms: discern, distinguish, differentiate. It is not the same as prejudice, despite what people are twisting it to to suit their feelings.

You have the right to discern and differentiate, both as an individual and a private business. It’s simply ridiculous to say that a person has a right to not have another person make a distinction about them or their actions. It's our right. Don't just say you love the constitution...Read it. It’s also terrain that’s already been rather explicitly covered in the First Amendment.

This means that I am allowed to tell you exactly what I think. I am allowed to tell you what I think of your stupid shirt, or why that cliché dress from the 18th makes you look fat, or why you shouldn't care what I told you. I am ALLOWED to tell you that sexual fetishes and dangerous lifestyles do not grant you immunity status and should not be glorified. It does not grant you immunity to my mean comments

  • The case against gay marriage is simply discriminatory.

The case against gay marriage is simply discriminatory. Most people do not want gay marriage to get the same ideal as straight marriage. However, gay people just want the same rights legally as straight people do. It is not about the ceremony per say but it is about giving them the same rights after they are married.

  • Of course it's discriminatory!

One of the basic principles that this country was founded on was the separation of church and state, and as for the argument involving whether or not parents should allow there children to be around gays, it is the child's choice who they spend time with, and by the way it is not someones choice if they are gay or not, it is simply who they are.

  • The case against gay marriage is simply discriminatory

The case against gay marriage is simply discriminatory. This is because of the fact that There are no valid arguments that show that gay marriage is a bad thing. All of the arguments involve people simply not wanting gays to marry, or are very poorly constructed arguments with vague points.

  • Case Against Gay Marriage is Discrimination

There are no just reasons against gay marriage because all of them are discriminatory in various ways. Without a doubt, gay people should be allowed to marry each other on their own free will. Marriage isn't necessarily a religious institution by any means, and equality should be more important than religion.

  • Discrimination Stems from Fear of Unknown

The case against gay marriage is strictly about discrimination and the fear that stems from the unknown. Legalizing gay marriage makes logical sense considering licenses for such nuptials can earn extra tax revenue for states. The travel, honeymoon and wedding industries stand to gain from extra weddings and marriages. There is no excuse for adding extra revenue and extra economic stimulus to our consumer-based society. Legalizing gay marriage is a boon to consumer spending, but too much fear is behind what should be something everyone has. We got over our fear of women and blacks voting, so we can do the same with gays marrying.

  • Yes it is.

Gay marriage is more about the discriminatory of people than anything else. People are uncomfortable with it or do not like the idea of it so they think it is okay to treat people badly and not give them the rights they deserve. Everyone should be allowed to get married.

  • The belief that gay marriage is any different from heterosexual marriage (besides the gender of the people) is discriminatory.

Um hello? People who say that two male or two female friends would abuse the privileges of getting married doesn't hold any legitimate basis for rejecting gay marriage. A male and female friend could do the same in the status quo. These people operate under the assumption that males and females can't be friends, which is discriminatory against those who have friendships with those of the opposite sex or an opposing gender.

People who say that gay marriage is wrong because of its sacrilege are using religion as a discriminatory tool to oppress the rights of people who don't think the same way as them.

It's not my job to explain why the case is discriminatory, it's the defender's job to explain why it isn't. The burden of proof is on them to either a) show why my headline is false, or b) explain why the case against gay marriage rests only solely the notion that having two of the same gender marry is wrong. Remember, if you make implications that having two of the same gender marry leads to what you perceive to be other, more immoral things, that's still discriminatory.

  • There are no strong arguments against gay marriage, thus making it discrimitory.

The nation was not founded off of christian priciples but the principles of religious freedom. To force someone to follow the percieved traditions of one religion would be a violaion of those founding principles. Science cannot be used to argue against gay marriage because at that point it ceaces to be an ethical issue. And the only thing that strictly defines marriage as being between a man and a woman is public perception.

  • Yes, people who do not want gays to marry are simply biased against them.

The people who both fear and hate the LGBT community are the ones who are pushing bans on gay marriage. If they truly believed in their religious reasons, they would not pick and choose these reasons and support other actions from Leviticus, such as selling daughters into slavery or punishing people who wear two different types of fabrics.

  • Many people make a case against gay marriage with discriminatory reasons, but the tax benefits from being married means theres an actual potential for abuse.

Most people see the issue of gay marriage as simply one of discrimination, and in many regards those against it choose to do so only out of discrimination, but there are a few legitimate issues which seem to be ignored. The Tax benefits and other things from being married would apply to a same sex couple with marriage equality. So the abuse potential for say two male friends to be marked as married in order to make their lives easier, while not being gay, does exist, although generally not thought of and unheard of.

  • NO cases against gay marriage isn't discriminatory BECAUse...

Some people choose to be gay or do sexual things with same sex, it shouldn't be that everyone should accept it. Parents who don't want that for their children, they cant have their children growing up around that because they will do whatever it takes to blend in the environment.

  • no the case against gay marriage isnt discriminatory

I do not think that the case against gay marriage is discriminatory because the gay people of our nation have to understand that our nation was built upon the rules and guidelines of our bible. To change that would be like asking people to change their religion. I think that just because they choice to be gay that does not mean that they world should change to fit them.
