A global tax would be too difficult to implement. Governments don’t know how to responsibly use
the tax revenue they get now. There is
also too much corruption in the world for us to be able to make a global tax
work. The money would have to pass
through too many hands, and someone along the way would steal it.
A global tax is a good idea on paper as a way to help fund UN programs to reduce or eliminate extreme poverty. However, not all nations are democratic. Some despots in poor countries could get a hold of the aid purchased with these taxes and use the goods for their own gain. Until dictators are taken from power, a global tax is not a good idea.
