Green delight as Trump's Irish wall plans withdrawn: Are the proposed plans negatively impacted simply by their relation to Donald Trump?

  • Trump is not popular in Ireland

Donald Trump's reputation has suffered in Ireland over the course of the presidential campaign where many people objected to the tone and content of his campaign platform. This would inevitably mean that any initiative in Ireland by Trump would be looked upon unfavourably. The fact that he intended to build a wall also drew parallels with his infamous Mexican wall plans which made the idea seem even worse.

  • Yes, a connection with Trump does have a negative impact.

I believe that many will have viewed these plans negatively due to the association with Donald Trump, as many people have very strong negative views on his character. In this case however, I believe that the proposed plan would have been beneficial, and received backing from the local community, it is just a shame that the association with Donald Trump has such a negative effect.

  • yes it is so

Yes, just about everything associated with Trump is tainted. He seems to like the idea of building walls. He said he'll build a wall along the border of Mexico and the United States -- we're all familiar with that. Apparently, he also wanted to build a huge seawall at his golf course in Ireland. Many in Ireland don't want the wall. Trump has withdrawn his original plans. But he wants a smaller wall built. If Trump wants it, he'll find a way to build it, even if people don't want it.

  • Yes, Trump can't be trusted.
