Guantanamo Bay detention center: Is Guantanamo important to information gathering in War on Terror?

  • This is difficult, but in the long run yes it is

Even though it might seem like something bad, the majority of people there do have valuable information that we need to know in order to keep our contry safe. As long as they can get the information needed to help protect America then I see at as an important part of intelligence gathering.

  • There are better ways to gather intelligence

The inhuman, often abusive situations that prisoners experience at Guantanamo bay are an offense to human dignity. And they are not shown to work more effectively than traditional interrogation methods used by the FBI- rapport building, and maintaining stable dialogue. Worse, it seems to backfire, pitting innocents with hardcore insurgents, turning people into potential enemies against the United States by radicalizing them.
