Harlem rezoning: Is the 2008 proposal to rezone Harlem, New York justified?

  • No responses have been submitted.
  • I don't think the proposal to rezone Harlem is justified.

I believe that rezoning Harlem will only serve to change the look and charm of the Harlem neighborhood and will only cause small businesses who have been there for a long time to leave and cause big business to move in. I feel like the poor will have a harder time staying in their neighborhood.

  • I don't agree with the Harlem rezoning.

I don't agree with the Harlem 2008 zoning proposal because I believe that it is being done to try to capitalize on the area of New York City that is mostly filled with poor blacks and minorities. The residents of the area are mostly concerned that it will change the character of the area and drive out small businesses. I don't believe the money the businesses are being offered will do much to keep the character of Harlem as they will most likely move out of the area.
