  • Match fixing in ipl

The IPL has destroyed professional cricket in India as we know it. Although it has garnered more attention for the sport, and, at the same time turned itself into a hugely successful business enterprise, it has bastardized the sport of cricket. Games in the IPL feature just 20 overs per inning, ruining a proud sport.

  • It isn't real cricket.

IPL- tiny boundaries; even an untimed shot yields six or four. In test cricket or one day cricket only a technical and classic player can survive. But in IPL(t20), even a street player can bit 30 in ten balls and become hero. There is no difference in IPL and street cricket. A player has to work hard for 1000s of hours to achieve class and technique to play test or one day. But t20 can promote a player who just plays cricket as hobby. In test, an edge means out. In IPL, an edge means four. A batsman thinks ten times before taking risk on a shot in test or one day. While in t20 a batsman is royally free to hit. The level of skill in t20 is negligible.A bowler hits the fastest 50. What is difference in batsman and bowler?? Do you think Harbhajan practiced a lot of batting before scoring 64 in 24 balls.
Respect towards technical players is deteriorating.
I am not saying that ipl should be banned. But we should prevent the cricket from losing its real identity. We should respect the year and one day too.

  • Soul "Sold" -

    1. The IPL has privatised national passion. Cricket has now been bought by businessmen, film stars, politicians. This kills the spirit of the game, which is for sportsmen. Glamour is secondary, the game is primary.

    2. Hardly 1-2 great players have come out of the IPL to represent India. It is because the domestic circuit has faded away as players just play for the cash enriched IPL, making the selection biased.

    3. Corruption in the IPL has defaced Indian cricket. The BCCI needs to be re-grown. When the head (BCCI) is corrupt, the soul no longer exists.

    4. Series in India are no longer "overseas" series for other teams. This is because the IPL has given away India's artillery, weapons out to the world for enormous amounts of money. They can plunder Indian pitches at will, and that is what is happening today.

Indian cricket has lost its soul to money, courtesy IPL.
