Obamacare has caused an increase in premiums for a variety of reasons. One of the major reasons is that Obamacare requires insurance companies to accept all people regardless of any kind of pre-existing conditions. This causes the insurance companies to have to accept many people that will have a lot of very expensive claims.
Obamacare has forced, and continues to force, increased insurance premiums. The worst part of all is that lie after lie was perpetrated to get this debacle of a law passed. Even worse, the lies were perpetrated with full knowledge that premiums and costs would rise. Yet, people are so hungry for a free ride that they fell for this bogus plan hook, line and sinker.
In the beginning, Obama's healthcare reform actually drove premiums up to about $3,000, instead of down by $2,500 as he promised. The Obama law brought a lot of volatility to the market. In California, Blue Shield premiums increased 20 per cent. Under Obama care, people pay about the same. In actuality, the young are paying more to subsidize care for older people, since it is the segment of older people which take up most costs for healthcare. Expect out-of-pocket costs for healthcare premiums under Obamacare.
I do not believe that Obamacare has forced an increase in insurance premiums. If you purchase through the Marketplace, you will likely end up spending less on your insurance premium that before it was implemented. Tax benefits are also offered, adding addition savings. I will save hundreds of dollars this year on my insurance premium thanks to Obamacare.
