Health insurance mandates: Are health insurance mandates not like tax increases?

  • No responses have been submitted.
  • Mandates are taxes

Its largely irrelevant what anybody's opinions about the individual mandates are; The Supreme Court ruled Obamacare to be constitutional, and in the ruling, the courts declared the mandate to be a tax. If the mandate is not considered a tax then Congress does not have the authority to pass the law.

  • They are the same.

Health insurance mandates are the exact same thing as tax increases. The citizens were told that there would not be any tax increases to cover the nationalized health plan. The government now needs money to pay for this project and is trying to find a creative way of collecting it. By charging the people health insurance mandates the government can tell us they did not raise taxes. It is just another lie the government is telling to confuse their people.
