Human heart found in Ohio field: Do you think it should be mandatory to be an organ donor?

  • It should be an opt out.

So many people die while they are waiting for organs. It should be a process where a person has to specifically opt out if they do not want to be a donor. That would make it easier for people to find the organs that they need. A lot of people are happy to donate they just don't want to do the work.

  • No, it should not be mandatory to donate your organs.

No, it should not be mandatory to donate your organs. Your organs are a part of your body and you should be able to choose what happens with your own body parts. No one should be forced to do anything with their body that they do not want to do.

  • It should not be mandatory, but we should be educated about the benefits

To make a part of any human's body a mandatory donation is a step in the wrong direction for state control of the individual. I suppose you might call it post-mortem slavery. On the other hand, organ donation can save and improve many lives. We should never be forced to offer our bodies for donation, but I think it is the moral duty of a citizen to do so.

  • No, it should not.

It would be nice if many more people chose to be an organ donor. Not allowing people the freedom to choose volates both their personal and religious rights. Some religions believe that a person cannot enter the afterlife if their body is buried whole . It would be a great diservice to violate these beliefs.
