  • Yes, I think so

That part of the second amendment tends to be forgotten. I think it relates to the regulations that are placed on gun owners by the government. So, yes, I think there should be common sense regulations surrounding gun rights. But, I also agree that there should be a certain limit of preparation needed before you can own a gun. This would reduce the amount of accidental gun deaths, which is a large portion of the gun deaths in the U.S.

  • As worded, the 2nd Amendment has requirements of regulation and organization that inherently impacts the right of gun ownership.

The inclusion of "a well regulated militia" as a requirement to "the security of a free state" within the wording of the 2nd Amendment mandates a level of training and organization (using requirements within the definition of 'regulated' and 'militia'). If these inherent mandates are not met, gun ownership at the individual level is not in compliance with the 2nd Amendment.

  • I don't think so.

The 2nd amendment begins with "a well regulated militia," but the mentions the right of the people to bear arms afterwards. I'm not 100% sure if the two were intended be conjoined, but I don't think they should. For example, say somebody can't be in the militia due to being in a wheel chair. Should the person be denied firearms? I don't think so.

  • Supreme Court says it does not affect the right to bear arms.

A Supreme Court ruling stated that even outside of the the militia a person has a basic right to a firearm for self defense or hunting purposes. All though I think people really should have at least a basic safety course in firearm handling it should not affect the second amdendement right.

  • It is our basic right for citizens to own guns. There is a reason for it. It is called tyranny resistance.

The statement of the militia is saying that they are necessary to protect a free state. These protected militias are made from citizenry and are not affiliated to government organizations. This right is to insure that we the people can protect ourselves from a rogue tyrannical US government. Therefore they have no right to take away our arms. The fact that they are even debating this is cause to have some of these politicians removed from office. Do you think the US government is going to give you the guns to resist them? Not unless you live in the middle east. This is MORE valid today than it was 200 years ago as well. The truth is that this amendment is the bottom line of our checks and balances system and serves as the ultimate protector for ALL our other unalienable rights. The origional intent was also to keep citizens armed with military compatible rifles. I would sure hate to have to take them on with a pitchfork while they are illegally imprisioning my family and killing us legal citizens off for protecting the constitution and asserting our rights as amearicans over goverment. The constitution was written to limit the power of government. It is for we the people and not big brother. There are 100 million people that have the means to join together and resist tyrany. There needs to be way more as these people will be our militias necessary for a free state. Remenber that when we do need to form these militias it will not be a conflict involving small groups of people. White, black, christian and muslem will not be a factor. Just FREE men able and willing to resist a goverment that has stripped the public of their rights. Why do you think racism exists today? These ideas have been pushed in our heads for generations, keep getting reignited and now it is being used as a means to keep the general population separate and untrusting of their other fellow man. There is no barrier like a social barrier. They are afraid of a united armed population because when a citizen group is these two things, slavery is not possible. If you need proof just look at the News Media. Everything we see, every tradigty is an agenda market. People may kill people but NOBODY is as good at it as governments. Instead of looking at guns we should be looking at why they want to take them. It is not about crime, if it was they would be doing something more about criminals. The root of it is Foreign governments and UN policy that has no respect for USA sovernty. Remenber how we are in debt? Mega mega debt? These forigners are going to walk right in, invited by our traitorous "leaders". Yes i will say gun deaths are a problem. One that can be greatly reduced with education and a push for moral connection. We used to teach gun safety in school.
