If God believes that no other gods exist, does that make Him an atheist?

Asked by: Dookieman
  • Yes, it does.

On the face of it, the answer to this question appears to be yes. If God believes that no other gods exist, He would be an atheist by definition. This is actually kind of funny, because there are many religious people who question how an atheist can be a good person if they don't believe in the existence of any gods. But the God they worship is, in fact, an atheist. Yet, they believe he is morally perfect.

  • Other gods do exist.

The astounding arrogance of god on full display to reject the notion of other gods. He's going to suffer in torment for all eternity and he absolutely deserves it for rejecting (other) god(s) from his heart He is an atheist and no one should trust him. When we have an all powerful being in power, the only way we can trust that they have the best intentions is if they have something greater than themselves to answer to. God clearly doesn't believe that and he thinks he's the greatest being in the entirety of our universe. You should all praise, the flying spaghetti monster before it's too late. He isn't just an all powerful being, but he's also a nice tasty pasta. What else could you possibly ask for?

  • Not even close

In order to be an atheist it requires a disbelief in ALL Gods and Deities. Since God knows that he is God it therefore does not make God an atheist.

For example. Just because there is only one you, doesn't mean you don't believe that you exist. . . .

  • No, not even one bit.

Cause god is the only lord in this universe so how could he believe there is another god if he knows that he is the only god. Therefore the meaning of god is the one and only the most powerful and the strongest, that no one could challenge. If you would like to know the real god look into islam. The religion of peace!!!!!!!!!!

  • God is god

God not believing in other gods doesn't make him an atheist. God is also a god, so just because he doesn't believe in other gods doesn't mean he is an atheist. God knows himself, so he knows that he exists. Since God is god and he believes that he exists, then that doesn't make him an atheist.

  • Not at all.

First of all, for the sake of discussion, let's assume that an all knowing, all powerful God exists. If this god was all knowing and exists, he would know that he exists, and since he is a god, he will be aware of his own existence. Since an atheist is one who does not believe in the existence of a god, god would not be an atheist.

  • No, it doesn't

Contrary to Dookieman's statement, God's knowledge that no other gods exist does not make him an atheist. An atheist is a person that believes that there are no gods, deities, supernatural powers, etc. God, being all knowing, knows that he is a god, The God, rather. Because God knows that he is a god, he is not an atheist, as he believes that there is a higher power, albeit himself.

  • Describing a god using human terms, hmmmm....

I'll keep this short and quick. God is not atheist, how do you compare a human to a god in fact why should you use human terms to describe a god. God doesn't believe that no other gods exist. He himself says that there is no other god but himself. So it's pretty clear, there is only one god and that should be enough proof for anyone.

  • Definition not at all

The question is based on the assumption that God exists, and thus, it is also based on the assumption that the bible is correct. It is stated in the bible that God was the most almighty, all powerful being in the universe. This puts forward the idea that there was only 1 God, and that there was no other Gods. This shows that there is no such definition as "Atheist" based on the assumption and in the assumption itself, which obviously makes the answer "NO".
