If God does not want people to go to hell, would it make sense for him to allow going there to even be possible?

  • God does not decide

This is like asking in essence if lawmakers, who don't want people to go to jail, even make it possible for people to suffer penalty under law? God gave us commands to prevent harm and His compulsionis aimed at our freedom. Hell is a very misunderstood concept. Heaven is an eternal dwelling in His presence. Hell is an eternal dwelling outside His presence. If He didn't make it possible for men to choose for themselves, He would be unjust. If He had lowered the commands to suit men, they would be in authority over Him and justice would fail to be just. Can you imagine humanity with no accountability for choices and actions? Is that a world where you would want to live?
Hell is chosen by men, not by God. Look at His statements in the Bible concerning mercy and judgement. God has a safety lock on His judgement, but a hair trigger on His mercy. He even gave His Son to crucifixion, perhaps the worst execution ever devised, to offer men a way to His mercy and sway their decision, but man has a free will. Man decides on good and evil, not Him.
I am not arguing your question. It is a good one, and one I thought I should elaborate through my answer on. No offense intended if I cause any

  • Yes, of course

He can't make you to do anything...It's your choice but then you also need to think about this from the outher point of view....Maybe the devil in some ways is more powerful, people choose him rather than God as he allows you to do bad and makes it all to be OK...

  • Hell is what you make it, and the biblical definition of it is A lack of God.

God doesn't send you to hell, You send your self, The lack of God in your life according to the bible is what sends you to hell. Hell is the lack of God that is why Satan and his demons live there, they no longer obey and believe in God,

  • Do you want to force people to love you?

I am going to assume the 'Hell' in this question is referring to the fiery pit of torment that is depicted today (although that isn't what the Bible teaches).

Do you want to force someone to love you, or do you want them to love you willingly? God gives everyone a choice. He wants you to come to Him willingly. You have a choice whether or not to accept Him. In all things, there is balance. There must be light with dark, up with down, good with evil. Of course God does not want us to 'go to Hell', but he doesn't decide that for us -- we do.

  • God's Will Of Salvation

He already paved a way for Mankind to avoid going there, believing in Jesus Christ who perished on The Cross, who was brutally beaten, whipped, spat upon, denied by his own people, nailed to a wooden cross, left to hang there in humiliation, agony, despair and was forsaken by God as his holy nature cannot coexist with sin as Jesus Christ became sin so that men could become righteous before God as their own righteousness is like filthy rags compared to the holiness of God and Christ himself. Jesus Christ carried all of the sins of the world, past-present-future, the spiritual magnitude of such overwhelming weight and pain is unimaginable accompanied by physical suffering that we cannot possibly grasp. To conclude, God doesn't desire anyone to perish, but for all to be saved and come to repentance. He so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, so that no man should perish but believe in him and gain eternal life, a free gift from God, that cannot be worked for, earned or ransomed because God already paid the ultimate price, his son, Jesus Christ, The Savior Of The World. (John 3:16-21), (1 Timothy 2:5-6), (1 Timothy 2:4-6), (Ephesians 2:8-9), (2 Peter 3:3-9), (John:1:10-13), (Hebrews 1:1-3). I beg all of you to not forsake this chance to live with God for all eternity in paradise while you are still alive, I plead you to not leave this world without Jesus, he loves you so dearly.

  • If this "God" is an omnipotent, omniscient and omni-benevolent god then...

    Hell should not exist.

Apparently I need 50 words for this, so...

It first has the knowledge, it knows all things. It would know that if people can not be allowed into Heaven, then they can cease to exist, or go somewhere away from heaven where no pain exists. They have the power to grant it, because even if God can't contradict its own word, it wouldn't have used its "word" to create Hell in the first place. Even if God has a different morality to us, if it was truly omni-benevolent, it wouldn't do something to us that is completely opposed to our own morality, i.E. Eternal torture. Apparently "not being with God" causes pain, but surely God should have taken that into account, and be able to counter such a thing.

I think and feel that if such a deity does exist, Hell must be impossible and that if Hell does exist, such a deity must be impossible.

  • No, because of reasons

AlbinoBunny covered it, if a god were both omniscient and fully benevolent, hell logically shouldn't exist. The counter argument that it was human's free will, which causes them to go to hell, doesn't quite make sense to me. Firstly, I doubt there's anything like free will. Secondly, an omniscient being would have to know in advance even every "free" decision. Being fully benevolent, it would make more sense to get rid of hell altogether.
A simple "reprogramming" of people so they don't have to endure pain and suffering to "make the right decisions" after death would be far more moral...

  • The GOOD News :)

"The Holy Bible" has been mistranslated so many times,it's a joke. Is God an author of confusion? No. So if we are confused, there are lies that are causing the confusion.
Everything that is in our Bible can make perfect sense if we allow God to reveal the lies that have been mixed in with the truths. The problem is that most people take the "Holy Bible" as gospel instead of the HOLY Spirit as TRUTH,The Holy Spirit (God manifested in us) does not lie, but exposes the lies.
Here are some truths that God has revealed to me recently:
Truth #1- Hell does not exist- When you die, you die.You basically sleep. There will come a time when we will ALL be resurrected just as Jesus was...Think about it. Why do you think Jesus was resurrected? He is our example. God clearly shows us when & how we will all be resurrected & how we will all be "saved"...Saved from DEATH, not a made-up hell. We will ALL bow & ALL confess that Jesus is Lord.
God, in His amazing awesomeness will bring us all to a point of glorifying Him....No need for us to scare someone into loving Jesus. THAT will happen in it's own time. Some are chosen in this world to know His mysteries & be part of the Bigger Picture..Some are not.

So why be good? Why worry about obeying God if we will all be saved anyway?

Truth #2- If you read your Bible- All those terms about "The Kingdom of God"...Most people have been taught that means "Heaven"...Uh,.. NO. It means the Here & Now! It means GOD ON THIS EARTH...We are presently either living in His kingdom or are we in satan's kingdom..Most are in satan's kingdom. Remember, Jesus said, "Many will say Lord Lord" & He will say I never knew you....Yup, because only those OBEYING Him NOW in THIS age, are walking with Him in His Kingdom NOW.

SO, if you are a fornicator, a homosexual, an idolater a liar, etc....You are NOT in His Kingdom...NOW,.. Not some distant future...It's now! , Do you see how that all makes much more sense? God is HOLY. We cannot have fellowship with Him if we are not holy...Which is why most people do not hear God speak to them...Let's say it a perk for being obedient....Along with having millions of blessings along the way....While those who continue in their own selfish behavior suffer many problems, sickness, curses, financial issues...Yup. It's quite simple. TOO simple. IN THE END WE ALL END UP WITH GOD. BUT IN THE PRESENT, WE CHOOSE OUR CIRCUMSTANCES BASED ON OUR OBEDIENCE TO HIM. If we live Holy lives, we choose to obey, which means we have fellowship with our Father. He talks with us, walks with us, works in us...Basically he is more real than your mom or dad....But ONLY if we love Him above all else.

  • It's called good news, duh...

Saying I LOVE without showing it, means you do not truly love.
