Medical evidence indicates that the fetus can feel pain. The only time an abortion should be performed is when the mother's life is in danger or in the event of rape.
The only time a woman should be allowed to have and abortion is when the woman's life is in danger, or the woman was raped. If a woman lays down to have sex, then she should be made to face the effects of that night of fun. With all the birth control devices available, abortion should not be one of them.
The original framework of the constitution was based on moral suppositions and the basic right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Although the Supreme Court justices in the 1973 decision based their opinions on a woman's personal rights as s free citizen, the moral implications of such an action as well as the original intent of the framers or the spirit of the constitution would never taken into consideration. Therefore, revisiting the issue and judging it based on US constitutional law that seeks to protect all human life is not only necessary but essential to our moral conscience as a nation.
The Supreme court is supposed to interpret laws against the Constitution, not institute new laws with no Constitutional basis. The latter is what happened in this case. In fact Norma McCorvey aka Roe has now tried to reverse the decision because she was tricked.
It is not a matter of opinion that abortion is murder. It's a fact. A living being is destroyed and people take this so lightly. If America is so
supportive of human rights and constantly complaining about the human conditions in other countries, why not start in our own back yards by saving the thousands of lives that are lost to abortion?
A baby becomes a person at conception. By allowing an abortion to be a legal option for overcoming choices made by people we are essentially allowing people to murder someone for their own comfort. There are those that will argue that it is an essential part of women's health care, but abstinence would do a lot more than abortion does for women's and men's health. If you don't want a baby then you need to be responsible enough to make sure it doesn't happen, and if you aren't responsible enough, then you need to accept the consequences of your actions, not just kill them away.
just like anyone else. How precious is a baby! It may not look like a human being but God said that he knew us in our mother's womb. In other words we are like him in spirit and we are in human form. We are alive at conception but selfish people don't want to deal with their responsibilities and people are selfish or too scared to deal with it. It is murder but if that person, who is guilty of abortion, receives Jesus as their personal Savior, they are forgiven. We are so hard-hearted to think that it is okay to kill a precious beautiful little baby and that hurts God's heart so much because he loves each and everyone of us so much! We need to stop listening to evil government. They just want the money as do evil doctors. It is such a horrible state of affairs!
Taking the lives of millions of unborn US citizens is one of the great sources of national shame. It is a tragic and misguided abuse of the rights and freedoms that we enjoy as US citizens. Using our rights and freedoms as an excuse to take human life is something that we should have national shame over. Plus we have very likely murdered great future presidents, inventors, teachers, lawyers, doctors, and others that could have positively impacted our country and the world.
I am a mother of two children now, when I was about 16 I got pregnant and yes I had an abortion, I found out that my chances were higher to have a child born with down syndrome considering this was genetic and it ran on the father's side. My mom was not supportive and was on drugs so I made the best decisions I could for myself and the welfare of my unborn baby. I could not have supported the child on my own and deal with a druggie for a mother, now today I raise my own two kids, I am a foster parent and I went back to school for my Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice. I think that everyone needs to make the decision that's best for her.
Before abortions were available to people legally, there were many illegal ones that not only made women criminals but also harmed their health and possibly killed them. Overturning the ruling makes no sense at all if we really value human life. We would then be forcing women to seek dangerous, illegal abortions and face criminal charges. This would be a huge step backwards and cause harm.
Bodily autonomy is a key component of freedom, and this includes the freedom for a woman to have an abortion. The United States would not be improved one bit by taking away this freedom - those who want to restrict abortion rights merely want to impose their religious views on sexual morality upon all the women of the nation. The United States would, in fact, be worse off. Besides being worse off for the women whose freedoms are restricted, it would be worse off for the unwanted children who are born to mothers who cannot or do not want to properly care for them, and it is believed that abortion actually reduces crime as unwanted children are more likely to grow up to become criminals.
Yes, let’s go back to a time when women were forced to get coat hanger and back alley abortions and more often than not died doing so. That would be great for our country (NOT). The fact of the matter is, women who want to are going to abort their fetuses whether it’s legal or not. At least provide them with a safe and healthy way to do so.
If the abortion ruling were overturned, we would have serious problems in the United States. Of course, there will be women who used abortion as a means of birth control. But, the majority of women are young, broke, or have to abort for health reasons. Illegal abortions would skyrocket, leading to more death. We would also see and even higher rise of teenage birth and more people on welfare. Let people choose. Only they know if they can care for a child.
I believe that abortion by women is overdone in the US and could be ameliorated if better birth control options were available to more women; however, reversing Roe v. Wade would not benefit the country either. Women will continue to have abortions and if they cannot do so legally, they will do it in unhealthy, unsanitary situations. Our respect for life should include a respect for good reproductive health for all women.
Having a child is a huge commitment, and a woman has the right to decide if she can mentally handle the life changes involved with having a child to support. The danger of carrying a child to term is also a risk, and the woman should have the right to decide what is done to her own body.
If adults in the United States have the right to decide whether or not to receive ANY medical procedure, then a woman absolutely has the right to have an abortion. Since she risks her own life in bringing a child into the world, she has the right to decide whether or not she wants to place her life and health at risk in doing so. For anyone else to tell a woman that she MUST have a baby goes against one of the deepest held rights of all humans; the right to make the final decisions concerning what happens to their personal health and well being. If we take away that right, then what prevents us from encroaching on every other personal right we have? How would the vast majority of Americans feel if it was illegal for men to have circumcisions? Or what if it became mandated that in order to live in this country you had to agree to have a lung removed so that you didn't consume as much oxygen?
I do not think women should be told that they can't get an abortion. But, I also don't think that it should be used as a form of birth control, either. Women have the right to choose to have children or not and, if that's taken away, we could be looking at a lot more cases of infants found dead in undesirable places.
Abortions occur for many reasons including unplanned pregnancies and rape. Rape is probably the biggest reason for the want for abortions to be legal because the baby brings up so many horrible thoughts. I agree that this is a horrible thing to happen to someone, but the baby from conception is alive. Life is important and life is something we fought for with the US constitution. If it is not permitted to murder or commit suicide then abortion should also not be permitted. I know this is a hard issue, but life is life and that should be preserved at all costs.
Before the 1973 passage of Roe v. Wade, abortions were performed in alleys and basements under less than sterile conditions. These "providers "did not offer counseling or care how old the woman was; they were in it for the money. As things stand today counseling is mandated and parental notification for minors is law. If Roe v. Wade were to be overturned, abortions would not stop happening, they'd just return to the back alley where there is no regulation.
I believe woman should have the right to choose to have an abortion. Certain situations arise in which I believe a woman should be able to abort a child. If a woman is raped and becomes pregnant, I believe the woman has the right to abort the child as the pregnancy was not of her choice. Another reason why a woman should have the right to an abortion is if the baby would kill the mother during labor or in the womb.
Abortion is an individual decision. The woman who performs the abortion has to live with it all her life. All options should be pointed out and all help offered before it comes to the decision, but it still is a personal decision. The society is not any worse of, if the decision is made or not made. Individual circumstances need to be honored. The argument can not be that government should interfere as little as possible with one individuals life, but massively interfere in this case.
Before women had broad access to birth control and abortion, they had limited opportunities to advance either educationally or professionally. The few women who did were expected to remain celibate, a sacrifice most people aren't willing to make for a lifetime. If women can't control their fertility, they are less productive at work and more likely to leave school. In a society that now often requires two earners for a family to live comfortably, rolling back reproductive rights would be something of a disaster.
