  • There should not be a law that allows one person to take another person's life, born yet or not.

A baby becomes a person at conception. By allowing an abortion to be a legal option for overcoming choices made by people we are essentially allowing people to murder someone for their own comfort. There are those that will argue that it is an essential part of women's health care, but abstinence would do a lot more than abortion does for women's and men's health. If you don't want a baby then you need to be responsible enough to make sure it doesn't happen, and if you aren't responsible enough, then you need to accept the consequences of your actions, not just kill them away.

  • It was an incorrect ruling.

The Supreme court is supposed to interpret laws against the Constitution, not institute new laws with no Constitutional basis. The latter is what happened in this case. In fact Norma McCorvey aka Roe has now tried to reverse the decision because she was tricked.

  • Taking the lives of millions of innocent unborn US citizens is a national disgrace. The US would definitely be better off if this ruling were overturned.

Taking the lives of millions of unborn US citizens is one of the great sources of national shame. It is a tragic and misguided abuse of the rights and freedoms that we enjoy as US citizens. Using our rights and freedoms as an excuse to take human life is something that we should have national shame over. Plus we have very likely murdered great future presidents, inventors, teachers, lawyers, doctors, and others that could have positively impacted our country and the world.

  • Yes it would be because taking a child's life is murder

just like anyone else. How precious is a baby! It may not look like a human being but God said that he knew us in our mother's womb. In other words we are like him in spirit and we are in human form. We are alive at conception but selfish people don't want to deal with their responsibilities and people are selfish or too scared to deal with it. It is murder but if that person, who is guilty of abortion, receives Jesus as their personal Savior, they are forgiven. We are so hard-hearted to think that it is okay to kill a precious beautiful little baby and that hurts God's heart so much because he loves each and everyone of us so much! We need to stop listening to evil government. They just want the money as do evil doctors. It is such a horrible state of affairs!

  • Yes, because performing abortion involves killing a child.

The only time a woman should be allowed to have and abortion is when the woman's life is in danger, or the woman was raped. If a woman lays down to have sex, then she should be made to face the effects of that night of fun. With all the birth control devices available, abortion should not be one of them.

  • Yes, because abortion is murder, unless it is necessary to save the mother's life.

It is not a matter of opinion that abortion is murder. It's a fact. A living being is destroyed and people take this so lightly. If America is so
supportive of human rights and constantly complaining about the human conditions in other countries, why not start in our own back yards by saving the thousands of lives that are lost to abortion?

  • I don't believe in abortion. It takes away the rights of the unborn.

Medical evidence indicates that the fetus can feel pain. The only time an abortion should be performed is when the mother's life is in danger or in the event of rape.

  • The abortion ruling should be overturned because the concept of terminating a pregnancy at one's own discretion contradicts the original intent of the constitution to preserve innocent life.

The original framework of the constitution was based on moral suppositions and the basic right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Although the Supreme Court justices in the 1973 decision based their opinions on a woman's personal rights as s free citizen, the moral implications of such an action as well as the original intent of the framers or the spirit of the constitution would never taken into consideration. Therefore, revisiting the issue and judging it based on US constitutional law that seeks to protect all human life is not only necessary but essential to our moral conscience as a nation.

  • Not sure if the country would be better off but many woman would be.

Abortion as a form OOPS birth control should be illegal. Pregnancy following rape is very different and the mother has a tough decision for her health or life but if she decides to abort that is her decision. However most abortions are post coital or OOPS birth control. Abortions are very serious for mother, baby, father, and families. They can lead to mother having serious side effects of hemorrhage, infection and can lead to permanent sterility, scarring and future tubal pregnancies. Mothers have higher post abortion depression, drug use, suicides. Nothing GOOD comes from OOPS abortions. Remember and don't forget Planned Parenthood is a HUGE Business they make a lot of money doing abortions. PP likes to speak of abortion as the Right to Choose, or Pro Choice, doesn't that sound independent, empowering, and free? All women want that! True empowerment comes through making independent and respectful decisions about your lifestyle and health before abortion becomes the question. However if your in that situation, realize it will be one of the most critical if not the most critical decision of your life. Irreversible like no other except ironically to kill yourself or someone else. DO NOT let anyone (friends, PP or The View or any person) package it to you in sexy tones of empowerment, health, choice, independence because none of those words or feeling will you have after the abortion. Chances are you will have feelings of guilt, depression so get support. They may not come right away but years later. Sterility and scarring can occur with abortion,be aware may never be given the gift of pregnancy again. The baby you abort may be the only child you would of ever had.

  • If the ruling were overturned, women would be forced to have abortions in non-medical manners again which endanger their lives.

I believe that abortion by women is overdone in the US and could be ameliorated if better birth control options were available to more women; however, reversing Roe v. Wade would not benefit the country either. Women will continue to have abortions and if they cannot do so legally, they will do it in unhealthy, unsanitary situations. Our respect for life should include a respect for good reproductive health for all women.

  • A woman has an absolute right to an abortion for the same reason she has a right to decide to have any medical procedure.

If adults in the United States have the right to decide whether or not to receive ANY medical procedure, then a woman absolutely has the right to have an abortion. Since she risks her own life in bringing a child into the world, she has the right to decide whether or not she wants to place her life and health at risk in doing so. For anyone else to tell a woman that she MUST have a baby goes against one of the deepest held rights of all humans; the right to make the final decisions concerning what happens to their personal health and well being. If we take away that right, then what prevents us from encroaching on every other personal right we have? How would the vast majority of Americans feel if it was illegal for men to have circumcisions? Or what if it became mandated that in order to live in this country you had to agree to have a lung removed so that you didn't consume as much oxygen?

  • If the abortion ruling is overturned, there will still be abortions, but they will not be safe, and they will cause women who want them to commit a crime.

Before abortions were available to people legally, there were many illegal ones that not only made women criminals but also harmed their health and possibly killed them. Overturning the ruling makes no sense at all if we really value human life. We would then be forcing women to seek dangerous, illegal abortions and face criminal charges. This would be a huge step backwards and cause harm.

  • Abortion is inconsistent with the US Constitution because it attacks the foundation of life.

Abortions occur for many reasons including unplanned pregnancies and rape. Rape is probably the biggest reason for the want for abortions to be legal because the baby brings up so many horrible thoughts. I agree that this is a horrible thing to happen to someone, but the baby from conception is alive. Life is important and life is something we fought for with the US constitution. If it is not permitted to murder or commit suicide then abortion should also not be permitted. I know this is a hard issue, but life is life and that should be preserved at all costs.

  • I oppose overturning roe v. wade

Before the 1973 passage of Roe v. Wade, abortions were performed in alleys and basements under less than sterile conditions. These "providers "did not offer counseling or care how old the woman was; they were in it for the money. As things stand today counseling is mandated and parental notification for minors is law. If Roe v. Wade were to be overturned, abortions would not stop happening, they'd just return to the back alley where there is no regulation.

  • No, because all European nations allow abortions and they are not better of because of it neither is the US

Abortion is an individual decision. The woman who performs the abortion has to live with it all her life. All options should be pointed out and all help offered before it comes to the decision, but it still is a personal decision. The society is not any worse of, if the decision is made or not made. Individual circumstances need to be honored. The argument can not be that government should interfere as little as possible with one individuals life, but massively interfere in this case.

  • More like worse off.

Yes, let’s go back to a time when women were forced to get coat hanger and back alley abortions and more often than not died doing so. That would be great for our country (NOT). The fact of the matter is, women who want to are going to abort their fetuses whether it’s legal or not. At least provide them with a safe and healthy way to do so.

  • A women has to care for her own life and body, and she has the right to decide what is done with her body.

Having a child is a huge commitment, and a woman has the right to decide if she can mentally handle the life changes involved with having a child to support. The danger of carrying a child to term is also a risk, and the woman should have the right to decide what is done to her own body.

  • No, I do not think the woman's right to abortion should be taken away, because it should be the women's right to choose.

I do not think women should be told that they can't get an abortion. But, I also don't think that it should be used as a form of birth control, either. Women have the right to choose to have children or not and, if that's taken away, we could be looking at a lot more cases of infants found dead in undesirable places.

  • I will never get an abortion, but I should not tell someone else that they can't, because people should be allowed to choose.

If the abortion ruling were overturned, we would have serious problems in the United States. Of course, there will be women who used abortion as a means of birth control. But, the majority of women are young, broke, or have to abort for health reasons. Illegal abortions would skyrocket, leading to more death. We would also see and even higher rise of teenage birth and more people on welfare. Let people choose. Only they know if they can care for a child.
