Internment: Can the interest of safety take precedence over the interests of liberty in justifying interment?

  • Safety Should Take Precedence

The interest of safety should take precedence over the interest of liberty in justifying interment. While no one ever wants to think about their loved ones being interred, if there is information that could help solve a crime and take a serious criminal off of the streets, I believe that the safety of people is more important.

  • No, people cannot be held arbitrarily.

No, the interest of safety cannot take precedence over the interest of liberty in justifying internment, because that is tantamount to a police state. The state can justify taking over all kinds of liberties, even though they say they are doing it in order to protect the same liberties that they are taking away.
