Is a dictatorship more efficient than a democracy?

  • In the most technical sense

A dictatorship is more efficient than a democracy because the leader has far fewer they need to answer to/have okay what they're doing, but that doesn't directly translate into dictatorships being better. The things being put in place have the potential to be really awful things, so just because things get done in a more efficient manner doesn't mean it's preferable.

  • Groups work better together

Democracy is a form of government where the majority, if not all the power is granted to different people. In a democracy you can work as a team to make your country a better place. Believe it or not but a group is smarter than one person, But in a dictatorship only the dictator gets to decide what to do with the country. In my opinion democracy is the better choice because then you could have a say in your community and government.

  • People will have no say

  • Dictatorship for most populated country

Dictatorship is the only and most suitable option for the nation like India, where the state is divided on the basis of language, culture. Its not just geographical difference, but the constitution also has its own flavor after every 500-1000 kms. Whether its taxation rules, or the rules for maintaining law and order, everything is controlled by the local bodies on the basis of religious, regional and cultural sentiments which makes its most suitable destination for separatists.
So to be a "one nation", honest dictatorship is the only option remains.

  • Yes, on basic principle

With a democracy, a large group of people decide who is elected. In today's world of universal suffrage, millions of people are allowed to decide who runs the country.
Thus, any potential leader must bow to the demands of millions of people. And each person has a different idea about what the country should be like. Therefore, Democracy is inefficient as a leader must try to make as many people as happy as possible in order to keep stability.
But you could argue that people will give consent to actions that they disagree with as it was democratically done. That is a joke, just look at the world today. The hostility to the conservative party's austerity measures is great, even though they were elected with a majority. Thus it is nearly impossible to have any stability.
With a dictatorship, 1 man or a small group makes the decisions and the people put up and shut up, or else. And the decisions they make is going to benefit the country in some way. Even if you argue that the dictator is pillaging the country for his own gain, he must have a functioning country and populace to produce the goods he will take otherwise he will lose the wealth/power he has. You can't take what isn't there.
Thus a dictatorship is more efficient as it allows one man or small groups to pursue their vision without having to edit it for every little complaint, like in a democracy.

  • Groups are smarter.

Believe it or not, groups of people know more than one person does. In a dictatorship, the dictator decides everything, and knows only so much about each. In a Democracy, you have a group... A mix of many intelligence. Since they are voted in, you vote for smarter people, unlike a dictatorship where an idiot could just as easily inherit it.

  • Democracy is the best we can do

Democracy has its flaws such as groupthink, and uninformed voters. We need to stop being societally passive. We need to be engaged and aware of what is happening in the wider world around us. We need people to think more critically and be more educated and open-minded. We need people who don't pay attention or care to be responsible and just not vote. Then democracy will truly bear its fruits. But when people are disengaged but still vote and effect the outcomes in elections the media and big money wind up deciding our elections. Democracy will only work when people stop behaving politically like idiots.
A dictatorship, it would depend on who it was whether that would turn out well. But even if the first dictator is good, what about his replacement?

  • Democracy is a better government

Although a Dictatorship generally has more control and overall income is averagely higher, in a dictatorship people are unhappy. Human Rights are ignored, people are mistreated and no one is allowed to voice their opinions. Both forms of government have flaws, and no form of government is perfect, but in the long run, a democracy has less flaws and a dictatorship has more. And put yourselves in the shoes of the people living in a dictatorship and people living in a democracy. Which would you prefer?

  • Long term benefits and lack of the ideal leader

Dictatorship does seem very lucrative on the short term. An ideal person with nothing but the country s best interests at his heart becomes the leader and takes it to glory. Well this has almost no probability of happening. Because 1. How do you find that ideal person??2. What guarentee can you give that he /she will stay that way??(power corrupts and absolute power....)
    3. Every single resident of the country may not be happy with the decisions this person makes. How do they raise their voice and make their feelings heard to bring a change??4. No person can be so highly qualified that he is a master in every ruling aspect. He must have a body of advisors to assist him. How is this body going to be formed?? Who gets the maximum say among them?? These are just some of the many issues dictatorship poses. Ultimately ,the citizens must get a fair chance to voice their opinion and shape the country as they seem fit. Their proposal may be rejected . But their claims must not be ignored. 1person cannot have absolute authority over a country.
    AND THUS DEMOCRACY IS BETTER

  • Look some war, poverty and unfair systems

In theory you think it would be more efficient but it isn't really as it's supposed to be, let's get an example in practice such as that of North Korea, it may be powerful army wise but the people have no choice in life. Another example would be Sierra Leone that;s stricken by war an poverty. If the dictator is poorly chosen you're stuck with them until they die unlike a democracy. There I've made my point.

  • I think that people should stop taking this as joke and write down an actually reason why they answered yes or no.

This is not a joke and with everybody just messing around just putting letters or just typing so the polls on there side could go up is very, should we say retarded. Since y'all acting childish. And I say acting childish because most of the people on here are just typing letters and saying how much they love Hitler.
STOP saying shit just to seem funny. Its not funny.

  • Dictatorship is not at all better govt.

Democracy offers so much of freedom and provide many rights and if people are unhappy they can raise their voices but this is not possible in a dictatorship where people are expected just to follow and never to question...!!!!!! Who all are reading this plzz reply and share your view too

  • Dictatorship is better

Because in democracy the decision making process is very slow.It does not provide equal economic status. In democracy many are below poverty line. All the indivisuals are not benifited. Only the people in power are benifited, like the politicians, the political leaders etc........ Due to the following reasons dictatorship is better.
