Is Bar Council of India rule that bans advertising by lawyers justified?

  • No responses have been submitted.
  • Bar Council Violates Freedom of Speech

The bar council violates the freedom of speech of lawyers. Lawyers have a right to promote their practice and profession as any other profession. This rule violates their fundamental right to promote their business, skills, and expertise as other professions do. The Bar Council should not restrict the freedom of lawyers to express their views and opinions.

  • The Bar Council of India Rule Banning Advertising by Lawyers is Not Justified

The Bar Council of India's rule that bans advertising by lawyers is not justified. It is based on ideas that are extremely old. While the intention may be a good one, if a lawyer is not able to advertise or even have a website, then people will not know about him/her. This is clearly not advantageous to the people of India who may need legal services.
