Yes, I believe bread baking can be an art. I believe that anything that you pour your whole heart and soul into so that someone else can enjoy it can be a work of art, be it bread baking, painting, sculpting, building a house, writing a book or poetry. It's about what you put into it emotionally.
Bread-baking is chemistry, as is all baking. It's a matter of combining the right ingredients at the exact amounts and applying waiting time for the bread to rise and heat for the dough to dry out. While some people have created tasty breads by hand, you can buy a machine for thirty bucks at WalMart to do it for you if you want. It's not an art.
