  • Just because an idea originated in your culture doesn't give your culture a monopoly on it

And if we look back at history everything originated somewhere else. Even original ideas had influences from other ideas which came from other places.

British culture is what it is today because of influences from Saxon, Norman, Celtic, and other cultures.

American culture is what it is today because of influences from many immigrant groups.

"Mocking or degrading other cultures" is an issue (and even that should be distinguished from mere jokes), "cultural appropriation" is not.

Recently a college banned yoga classes because of "cultural appropriation". Yoga has scientifically proven health benefits. Based on the logic these social justice warriors are using you shouldn't get vaccinated unless you are Turkish because vaccines were invented in Turkey. Funny that I've never even seen anti-vaxers using that argument.
