  • Yes, the Myth of "deforestation" is Alive!

Actually, "deforestation" is a myth or at least in the United States. We have clear cutting, and far more trees are planted and raised in nurseries. And the ability of areas to regenerate and thrive is quite common as well. I would suggest that the creator of this topic was perhaps influenced by those cartoonish renderings that find their way into our public schools depicting a hillside with all those poor trees removed, which amount to little more than propaganda/indoctrination.

  • Lets think about this.....

Forests provide millions of organisms habitats to live in. Humans need paper and the like much less than these organisms need a home. The world is turning paperless, I predict that electronics will be used in schools instead of paper in 50 years. People deforesting trees also may be unknowingly destroying the cure to cancer. Leukemia, etc.
PEOPLE ARE NOT THE ONLY THINGS ON THE PLANET!!!!!!!

  • God No Way

Millions of people around the world depend on forests for hunting, gathering, and medicine, forest products such as rubber and rattan, and small-scale agriculture. But deforestation disrupts the lives of these people, sometimes with devastating consequences. In the Greater Mekong in Southeast Asia, where land tenure systems are weak, deforestation has contributed to social conflict and migration. In Brazil, poor people have been lured from their villages to remote soy plantations where they may be abused and forced, at gunpoint, to work under inhumane conditions.”

“Deforestation is clearing Earth's forests on a massive scale, often resulting in damage to the quality of the land. Forests still cover about 30 percent of the world’s land area, but swaths the size of Panama are lost each and every year.”
“The world’s rain forests could completely vanish in a hundred years at the current rate of deforestation.”
“Forests are cut down for many reasons, but most of them are related to money or to people’s need to provide for their families. The biggest driver of deforestation is agriculture. Farmers cut forests to provide more room for planting crops or grazing livestock. Often many small farmers will each clear a few acres to feed their families by cutting down trees and burning them in a process known as “slash and burn” agriculture”
“Deforestation has many negative effects on the environment. The most dramatic impact is a loss of habitat for millions of species. Seventy percent of Earth’s land animals and plants live in forests, and many cannot survive the deforestation that destroys their homes.”
“Deforestation also drives climate change. Forest soils are moist, but without protection from sun-blocking tree cover they quickly dry out. Trees also help perpetuate the water cycle by returning water vapor back into the atmosphere. Without trees to fill these roles, many former forest lands can quickly become barren deserts.”
“Removing trees deprives the forest of portions of its canopy, which blocks the sun’s rays during the day and holds in heat at night. This disruption leads to more extreme temperatures swings that can be harmful to plants and animals.”
“Trees also play a critical role in absorbing the greenhouse gases that fuel global warming.
Fewer forests means larger amounts of greenhouse gases entering the atmosphere—and increased speed and severity of global warming.”

  • No Way Jose

Deforestation is not good for mankind because most organisms need oxygen to survive. If people start clear cutting forests then animals wont have homes and there will be less oxygen, which will cause the carbon-oxygen cycle to not be equal because the world is over populated. The result would be not enough oxygen for survival.

  • Trees are our lifeline

No, deforestation is not good for mankind. This is due to the fact that trees use the carbon dioxide that we breathe out to make oxygen that we need to live. Building and condominiums are interesting to look at and are no doubt profitable, but unfortunately, they do not provide the oxygen we need for life.

  • Turn deforestation into reforestation!!

But deforestation disrupts the lives of these people, sometimes with devastating consequences.
