  • I just wanted to say some things regardless of the side.

If we are talking socio equality, that being social equality, then yes people should have the same rights regardless of what you are. But that being said this is if equality is good or bad. Equality is not inherently good or bad, ie: that everyone being treated shit is just as equal as everyone being treated like a princess/prince. Equality is not about treating everyone with kindness, but to treat everyone the same way. So technically the asshole who calls everyone names and is treating everyone like shit is treating everyone like they are equal to each other. But if we are talking ecio equality, that being equality of money then no equality is not good because that would lead to a communist regime that has always failed because of corrupted people regardless of how it would work in theory. (tl:dr equality is not good nor bad, some forms of it is good and some are bad. It just dependds on how people treat others. )

  • Everyone should be treated equally no matter what gender you are!

Mainly women are the ones affected by this. It is not like back in the old days when only men could choose what was going on throughout the world. And they shouldn't just get equality, they should also be treated fair by anyone and everyone. Women are also people too.

  • This is my opinion

Equality is in my opinion the one of the main cornerstones to women feeling safe and appreciated and why can men feel like that and not women, we are all the same we can both show great talents and change the way humans see the world. Women can help men just as much a man can help a woman the collaboration of both genders is great. They are great on their own but they excel in all subjects of life together. If you make fun of someone because of their race or belief, then you should try putting you in their shoes. See how much you get made fun of life wouldn't be good for you. So instead be nice to everyone. Their looks or personality doesn't matter make this world a better place that is what I say. Every person belief, race, gender is a person and we not that different. For instance a white person and a black person are so similar the only difference is their colour it’s so silly to think one person is superior.

  • This is to it simply cant happen i wanna say somthing

If we are all equal it is not saying we can only achieve the same as everyone it is saying that we can all (if we try) excel and brake the limits it is saying that we are not less a person because we are gay or a different race or straight or christian or another religion all people can become anything they want.

  • Do you hear yourselves?

Of course equality is a good thing! We're not arguing here that we should try to create a perfect, equal society. That is impossible for us to create as inherently imperfect humans. (Communism was a failure) However, we should strive to lessen wealth inequality as is and recognize all men as equal.
First, wealth inequality. Studies have been done showing that in developed nations, the more unequal wealth distribution is, the less successful the economy. Equality improves economic growth and output. Inequality can come from one person working harder, yes, but it also comes from abuse of power, unfair background inequality, and sometimes just a matter of how far you're willing to go. Wealth inequality is unfair; all people should have equal opportunity.
Second, equality as humans. All people are created equal. The ideal society should recognize everything about people that makes them unique. Our current society only looks for certain traits: aesthetics, strength, intelligence, communication etc. Therefore, those who have more of these traits are considered "better", while this is completely not true and wrong. Equality is not saying everyone is the same, just that everyone has equal value, unique value.
Freedom versus equality: This isn't even a thing. The best kind of equality would come from a society that voluntarily supports one another, thus keeping their freedom and creating equality.

  • Yes every one is right that is saying NO

It is because some people have to wear many things in order to be equal but in my opinion no it is not good because then we won't be special or if we have a facial face they would do something to make it look like nothing happened but only that person knows. This is what i am saying you don't have to agree with me. BUT IN MY OPTION IT IS A NOOOOOOOOOOO. So everyone that is saying NO you are right and remember i said it is my option you don't have to agree if you don't want to and another reminder PUT A THUMBS UP IF YOU LIKE IT OR NOT AND........... DON'T TO SAY IT IS BAD!!!!!!! BYEEEE!!!!!

  • Equality is Inequal

First off, there are different types of equality. There is equiality of outcome, meaning what how much money you earn etc., there is equality of opportunity, meaning the everyone starts off with the same possibilities to succeed, and there is equality of rights. By equality of rights, I mean everyone being treated the same by courts and other governmental institutions.

I would argue that complete equality of results and opportunity is practially impossible, because the resources it would take to keep everything equal would be greater than the wealth that would be produced under such a society. It would be a race to widespread societal collapse.

I understand, however, that very few actually advocate complete equality in the true sense of the word. While that is a weakness of the argument, the question being where then one draws the line, I would still argue that both types of equality previously mentioned, even though not taken to their extremes, is immoral. The reason being that equality of results and equality of opportunity cannot exist at the same time as equality of rights. For one to change the result or opportunity of anyone, it is by definition necessary that governmental institutions treat people differently. If the premise that individuals have rights is true, and that their rights are equal, we cannot at the same time have the other types of equality.

    Example:

If person A has to give money to person B by law, theire obviusly not being treated equally.

  • Naturally can't exist

There is no need to worship equality. It works to keep people happy and quiet. Equality is an illusion to make people feel better about themselves when in reality life and nature is unfair and unequal. Some are born with distinct advantages others with disadvantages. We are not fundamentally equal but we can choose to believe so. Equality is so ideal and it seems perfect, but when it gets mixed into the lives of humans and human nature comes into play equality just doesnt actually work. We are born arrogant and we don't like to be JUST equal, we want to be more, we aspire to be greater and we're arrogant. No matter how hard you try you can't hide the simple fact that in the end all humans carry these characteristics to a certain extent and that in the end we are nothing but Human. Equality in our world today works because we are forced to believe in it and equality does its job as people tend be happier in general like this. However by no means is it perfect and it cannot truly exist.

  • Equality can't and generally doesn't exist

Although people generally like to believe that equality is good but that's because they look at it at face value. In order to understand equality we have to determine what it is and what the opposite of equality is. Equality means that every single person is equal and nobody is more important or better than another person. It might seem silly and simple but equality is not always the best. Let's take equality of speech for example. In order for speech to be equal, we would have to limit what some people say because when someone famous (lets take Oprah for example) posts something on Twitter or Facebook, it is more influential than the average person. How is this equal? If one person's voice is heard more than someone else's then it isn't fair or equal. Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegut Jr. is a short story mocking equality and what a world would be like with equality. Which brings me to my next point, freedom. Freedom is the opposite of equality. In a world where freedom exists, equality can't because how people use this freedom varies from person to person. Lets say a person who is rich goes out and spends 100 thousand dollars on a new car. He is allowed to because he has the freedom to do as he wishes. But lets say someone who is less fortunate wants to buy the same car but can't because he doesn't have the money. You might say that it's because he doesn't work hard enough or it was his fault but it doesn't change the fact that one person can get something and another person can't. However, if things were equal, everybody could buy the same car and people couldn't buy a car that was better than someone else's. Finally, equality doesn't really exist in our society since most of the principles are based off of freedom. Yes, some are based off of equality but freedom always comes before equality in any democratic society (USA, UK, Russia, EU, etc.). There isn't a law that limits the amount of Facebook posts people put but there is a law for freedom of speech. Just something to think about when thinking of equality.

  • Complete equality is a bad thing.

Having some equality in the world is a good thing, like gay marriage rights, but what if everybody was equal. I read a book in my English class that talked about this. The smart people were given devices to hinder their mental abilities. The beautiful people were forced to wear bags over their faces! The government did this so everyone would be as equally as good and as equally as bad at everything. So do you really want equality?

  • It simply just can not happen.

We live in a world of competition. Half of our past time is competing against people and trying to win. If we take that away and everyone be equal we would not have very much to do because everything is going to be a tie and we will eventually get bored of that.

  • Equality is bad

    Whilst in an ideal world some would suggest equality, consider this;
It is inequality that drives our sense of competition and desire to better ourselves. Without this desire human nature would lead us to become lazy, we need to want to be better to make our societies progress and grow.

  • You cannot create equality in our world.

There's one important thing we all have to realize at this point: all people are different. Everyone must know this by now, and many people support the idea, but can you really say that everyone is different and strive for equality? Equality is like saying that you should give a child and his father the same portion of food; either you give them both the amount the child can eat to feel full, or the amount the father can eat to feel full. Equality is like saying that men and women are the same. Can you really say that men and women are the same if the most stark difference is in their physical appearance? Even amongst one sex, not one is the same in any way to another. Your own clone won't be the same as you, not in any way possible, all because it will have been you in a different environment: a new person.

Equality is not a right one can achieve, not even a group, nor the whole of mankind, this is why communism failed.

  • The paradox of concepts like Equality.

The very flaw with concepts like Equality is that due to not being physical they don't have to be logical.
Equality is impossible to achieve without discriminatory tactics, if two people are earning different amounts of money they are financially unequal, and if you then balance their income you have treated them differently and so they are socially unequal.
This cannot be avoided and so Equality as a nonsensical and paradoxical concept should be ignored.

  • Aristotle says it best, "The worst form of Inequality is to try to make unequal things equal."

Im only in middle school but I'm pretty sure Aristotle says it best. As I was reading through many arguments, most, on the yes side state something hinting that fair and equal are the same. I beg to differ. I don't want a communist society. I just want fairness, which simply means, "impartial and just treatment or behavior without favoritism or discrimination.''

  • Yes every one is right that is saying NO

It is because some people have to wear many things in order to be equal but in my opinion no it is not good because then we won't be special or if we have a facial face they would do something to make it look like nothing happened but only that person knows.
