  • Equality is good

Equality can be multiple explanations, however computing this word means freedom of speech. Revolving around this word means EQUAL RIGHTS, and having everyones opinion at ones right. Equality can benefit ones gender or race in the society of public living. So yes i believe that equality is good. EQUALITY CAN BE BAD AT TIMES BUT WE MIGHT NEED IT IN TODAYS SOCIETY FOR CHANGE.

  • Yes its good

Would you want a doctors not to treat you just because you were a different race, gender, age or held different values or beliefs as them??? Of course not because doctors value equality they are there to care for you regardless of who you are. If you do not believe in equality well then good luck finding a doctor who believes in the exact some thing as you

  • Equality is a good thing!

I think equality is a good thing because think about it, what if you were treated horrible just because of your gender, belief, or race. That isn't fair. Just because you might believe something different than some else doesn't mean that you should be respected or disrespected. I think that equality shouldn't be a problem, it should be a natural thing to do.

  • Equality is Inequal

First off, there are different types of equality. There is equiality of outcome, meaning what how much money you earn etc., there is equality of opportunity, meaning the everyone starts off with the same possibilities to succeed, and there is equality of rights. By equality of rights, I mean everyone being treated the same by courts and other governmental institutions.

I would argue that complete equality of results and opportunity is practially impossible, because the resources it would take to keep everything equal would be greater than the wealth that would be produced under such a society. It would be a race to widespread societal collapse.

I understand, however, that very few actually advocate complete equality in the true sense of the word. While that is a weakness of the argument, the question being where then one draws the line, I would still argue that both types of equality previously mentioned, even though not taken to their extremes, is immoral. The reason being that equality of results and equality of opportunity cannot exist at the same time as equality of rights. For one to change the result or opportunity of anyone, it is by definition necessary that governmental institutions treat people differently. If the premise that individuals have rights is true, and that their rights are equal, we cannot at the same time have the other types of equality.

    Example:

If person A has to give money to person B by law, theire obviusly not being treated equally.

  • Naturally can't exist

There is no need to worship equality. It works to keep people happy and quiet. Equality is an illusion to make people feel better about themselves when in reality life and nature is unfair and unequal. Some are born with distinct advantages others with disadvantages. We are not fundamentally equal but we can choose to believe so. Equality is so ideal and it seems perfect, but when it gets mixed into the lives of humans and human nature comes into play equality just doesnt actually work. We are born arrogant and we don't like to be JUST equal, we want to be more, we aspire to be greater and we're arrogant. No matter how hard you try you can't hide the simple fact that in the end all humans carry these characteristics to a certain extent and that in the end we are nothing but Human. Equality in our world today works because we are forced to believe in it and equality does its job as people tend be happier in general like this. However by no means is it perfect and it cannot truly exist.

  • Equality can't and generally doesn't exist

Although people generally like to believe that equality is good but that's because they look at it at face value. In order to understand equality we have to determine what it is and what the opposite of equality is. Equality means that every single person is equal and nobody is more important or better than another person. It might seem silly and simple but equality is not always the best. Let's take equality of speech for example. In order for speech to be equal, we would have to limit what some people say because when someone famous (lets take Oprah for example) posts something on Twitter or Facebook, it is more influential than the average person. How is this equal? If one person's voice is heard more than someone else's then it isn't fair or equal. Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegut Jr. is a short story mocking equality and what a world would be like with equality. Which brings me to my next point, freedom. Freedom is the opposite of equality. In a world where freedom exists, equality can't because how people use this freedom varies from person to person. Lets say a person who is rich goes out and spends 100 thousand dollars on a new car. He is allowed to because he has the freedom to do as he wishes. But lets say someone who is less fortunate wants to buy the same car but can't because he doesn't have the money. You might say that it's because he doesn't work hard enough or it was his fault but it doesn't change the fact that one person can get something and another person can't. However, if things were equal, everybody could buy the same car and people couldn't buy a car that was better than someone else's. Finally, equality doesn't really exist in our society since most of the principles are based off of freedom. Yes, some are based off of equality but freedom always comes before equality in any democratic society (USA, UK, Russia, EU, etc.). There isn't a law that limits the amount of Facebook posts people put but there is a law for freedom of speech. Just something to think about when thinking of equality.

  • Complete equality is a bad thing.

Having some equality in the world is a good thing, like gay marriage rights, but what if everybody was equal. I read a book in my English class that talked about this. The smart people were given devices to hinder their mental abilities. The beautiful people were forced to wear bags over their faces! The government did this so everyone would be as equally as good and as equally as bad at everything. So do you really want equality?

  • It simply just can not happen.

We live in a world of competition. Half of our past time is competing against people and trying to win. If we take that away and everyone be equal we would not have very much to do because everything is going to be a tie and we will eventually get bored of that.

  • Equality is bad

    Whilst in an ideal world some would suggest equality, consider this;
It is inequality that drives our sense of competition and desire to better ourselves. Without this desire human nature would lead us to become lazy, we need to want to be better to make our societies progress and grow.

  • Equality is Dangerous

It is often said that we learn from our past, but is that really true? Inequalities have existed in our society for thousands of years; from the kings versus the serfs in medieval times, to the treatment of slaves, to the inequalities of women. Today we still have people who face prejudice and inequality every day. If we really learn from our past, why does inequality still exist? Why can’t we live to the belief that “all men are created equal?” Our society today is, however, a lot better than it was when the United States first became a nation. These examples of past inequalities have shaped today’s society because we now have an increased minority participation in the government, equal education is promised to everybody, and most people have the chance at any job they want.
Racial and economic equality in the United States is impossible. Starting with slavery, moving to Jim Crow and culminating with hate crimes and racial profiling, there has been a continuous stream of factors preventing the realization of an equal American society. While it is true that great strides have been made to correct the social and political inaccuracies, the harsh reality is that all these attempts are futile. Practices such as affirmative action and equal opportunity programs, are effective at leveling the playing field, however, they will never be able to make it completely equal. White privilege and its social consequences represent one of the main reasons why equality is unattainable. Ideally, the destruction of white privilege and the belief systems that support it could result in the formation of an equal nation. However, human beings have no available means to destroy this demon, and hope exists only in the attempts at minimizing the damage to our country. Furthermore, natural inclinations towards competition make inequality unavoidable.
White privilege is a system that amasses to whites' greater wealth and resources. It also lends them access to a higher quality of justice, services, and capital than other racial groups. Simultaneously, white privilege has resulted in impoverishment and injustice for the vast majority of racial minorities. White privilege is more than a set of attitudes or individual opinions; it is a comprehensive framework of policies, practices, institutions, and cultural norms that influence every aspect of American society. Being white constitutes a powerful asset in the United States and globally.

  • Individualism not collectivism

Equality is discrimination because as individuals we each are different. We each are born with different skills and are born with natural rights. Equality sounds good but is wrong as it groups people like socialism when people cannot and should not be grouped because each is different. Then there is always some ruler who then controls the group for the "greater group".

  • Use equality to deal with crime areas

There are two towns one town has high crime rate while the other dosent and you want to treat them equal so you distrbute the police officers equally the result is you get police officers doing nothing in nonviolent town while the other town crime rate went down a bit and not as much as it could have if we put the non working officers in that town. Using equlity in some situations is a bad decision.

  • Its Impossible Dreaming

Equality is some fantasy dream we all have but to be honest its complete utter rubbish. There will always be people higher than others and people treated worse than others and society just needs to accept that. The hierarchy is so massive now it would be impossible to abolish anyway.
