You're not God so why would you even think about doing something like this. We all are humans and we deserve to be represented to the world as unique individuals and not being cloned for someone's selfish reasons. We need to fight against this and tell the world that making another duplicate of someone who takes away all the creativity and intelligence in the original person.
Human Cloning is Very wrong!! We Should All Be Different!! On the sixth day God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he created him; male and female created he created them (Genesis 1:26-27) << Very good example
It took 277 attempts to get a successful sheep (Dolly). If we try these hith humans, many human clones will be deformed, born with bad diseases or will miss a leg or an arm. The succesfull clone will probably going to have a very drastic life, it may be cloned by an adult so he or she will have a shorter lifetime, he or she will not have the same human rights and will be discriminated by society becuase people will consider him or her as an experiment, not as a normal human being that has feelings.
In this cruel world if we allow human cloning all it is used is for military uses. Any country that can clone people can create a huge army to destroy the whole world. This will be an army of emotionless man. Also, there are many issues in parenthood and judicial problems. It is essential to prevent human cloning while we can.
It is wrong because not everyone likes to be duplicated, yes they might think that it is very cool and interesting at first but that person could turn bad and take over you. They could want to turn into you and not everyone will be able to tell you apart from your clone. So that is why I don't think that cloning is a good think. Be an original not a copy :)
Think about this. For every person who is born from a different mother, there is a different personality per child. Can you get that same result with cloning? Think of the real reasons why scientists are cloning, to help make products for skin, etc. That is terrible. For those who say no, I bet more than half of you are against abortions. How can that be? You should agree with that too because when they kill the cloned embryo when they are done with it, it's the same as killing the baby as if one was getting a abortion. It is wrong and cruel.
Human cloning is very wrong. I do not think science should be allowed to mess around with genetics to the point of creating a human like figure that is not really human. There can be nothing good to happen in creating a clone from DNA. Human's are created through an act of love and not an act of science.
What is the whole point of sex then? We are able to have sex, because we have to reproduce. Now you want to eliminate the need for reproduction? Don't mess with nature.
We are all unique; but for how much longer? If you clone me, I won't feel special anymore - neither will the clone.
Cloning a body is possible, but I feel it is impossible to clone a PERSON, because the clone does not have a soul. Cloning would just create zombies (and make my nightmares come true!)
People want to use these clones as vessels to hold organs , what if these "clones" have feelings? What if these "clones" with feelings were the start of a new protest for new laws against cloning. You wouldnt create a human just to cut their life short because someone who wasnt born in a lab needs a heart?
Human cloning is wrong because its un natural and not right. Creating dolly the sheep there were many deaths and a huge cost. For one your not god!!! Stop trying to be him. Theres a reason why you cant do certain things. I STRONGLY believe that human cloning is wrong!!!!
The reason why I think cloning is bad is that if al qaeda learns how to clone then the U.S. is in trouble and the UK. If al qaeda learns how to clone then they will clone there army and their leaders and they will attack the U.S. And the UK. QUIT CLONING TO SAVE LIVES.
There is obviously a vast amount of moral and ethical concerns in regard to human cloning. Human life is believed to be precious and sacred. Cloning inevitably is rarely successful the first time, which means that human embryos will die. It is fair to say that cloning is akin to murder or manslaughter at the least. For those who do not believe that life is sacred, it is just tissue being disposed of. The idea of cloning is repugnant. We are putting the “cloner” in the place of God. The most important part of a person is their spirit, soul or mind and cloning does not allow one to achieve this, it rather allows one to attempt to achieve some genetic standard. There is no justification for cloning, it is so inhumane in the sense that there are people on this earth with very cruel intentions and human cloning would allow for military use. For instance, a country that could clone people could create a massive army that could attempt to take over other countries and lead to endless wars of emotionless men. Humans should be created through an act of love and not an act of science. One that is cloned can no longer be considered an individual, as your identity is not necessarily just yours; you are sharing it with someone else. Another example for instance, if terrorist groups had the ability to clone then the world would be a much more frightening place always in fear of being attacked at any unknown time. Not only this, but human cloning could lead to extremely ethically wrong and inhumane actions like organ harvesting. Babies created by two people are protected by civil rights and birth rights, if organ harvesting ever happened to them, then people would be punished. However, if the organs of clones were harvested, nothing would happen. Who protects them? The clone may also face emotional difficulties that could get in the way of living a normal life. If the clone realized they were created to replace somebody who has passed away, the clone would feel an insane amount of pressure knowing this. The clone may look the same, but it will never act the same. It will never be an exact replica. Also, what is a couple has a clone they are not happy with? Technology has the tendency to often fail. Cloning is such a huge ethical and moral concern. It really cannot be justified.
The risks that come with human cloning are far and many. As we have not actually cloned a human, we do not know what would exactly happen to the clone as it grows up. If we were to clone a human, we would be experimenting, trial and error. It would take many times to actually be able to clone a human. The experiment may result in numerous mutated humans, maybe missing a arm or a leg. Maybe the clone will die early. But the cloning was successful, the clone would be treated as an "experiment" and may be shunned by the society. It is also immoral, to play around with people's lives. What if one day a clone of you took your place and you had no idea? We never know what would happen, and we should be safe than sorry.
It is under God's will to create human beings. No one has the power to clone humans or animals. If God wanted more he would've created it himself. They will only be used to test out medicine and be experimented like lab rats. That's not fair to the clone, that is all!
God created people to be made between two people that love each other and not be created through a test tube. Only god can create a soul and give that human feelings so any clones are basically walking zombies. What good does it do? Create slaves? Mindless body guards? Cloning is dehumanizing
With human cloning people are crossing a line. Why would you need to clone someone? What good could come out of it? All attempts at cloning humans have ended in failure or failure and a persons death. When cloning a person you are playing god. And what would be a reason to clone someone?
Human cloning is the worst thing on the planet. I mean the clones have feelings. Do you really think they want to not be special or not have a soul because that's what people think about them. Clones are just look alikes but people will think of them as freaks. I mean that's not part of the human nature. People should be born they way they were sopposed to. Not altered to look however someone wants them to look.
My decision has nothing to do with God. I don't see how human cloning can benefit society. And to the point if cloning a great genius, even if the body structure could be cloned, it is very near impossible to clone the brain structure that makes that person so smart. I feel like human cloning will just lead to overpopulation, endless wars where we fight with clones to save real lives(not trying to be too StarWars here but it very well could happen), with little benefit. If we clone ourselves what makes us unique? Even if these clones become smart, they would also become self aware, causing who knows what.
I think that it is unnecessary to clone a full human because you could never make the same connections in the brain that the original had, making him a new person and would not even be the person you first knew. In fact you would need to raise the person as if they were a child, even if you can get them to look like an adult. I do believe in producing human organs if it can be produced by itself (here's where stem cells come in) and used for transplants
I believe we are created in the image of God, and therefore the idea of cloning is repugnant to me since it puts the "cloner" in the place of God. When a person is cloned, it's generally to achieve some genetic standard rather than what's more important--the true person (spirit, soul, mind, etc). Also, cloning inevitably is rarely successful the first time, which means that many embryos will die. For those who don't believe life is sacred, it's just tissue being disposed of. But for those who believe life is precious, then it's akin to manslaughter at the least.
If you were not given the ability to create life that's for some reason! You may not know it right now but it comes to something in the long run. Or if your missing an organ, that maybe for a reason. What if your suppose to go and be back with your god.
To clones humans is just wrong. To twist something as fragile as life is horrible. The cloning process can also kill mother and child and takes many tries before one can be produced. Even if the baby was born there is a small chance it would be healthy and live a long life.
It is immoral. And I personally think that we don't need to clone humans in general (the human population is big enough as it is). Also it took 277 attempts to create dolly, who lived half the life of a normal sheep. Just think how many humans would die or have problems to successfully clone one human. We should just leave the world of nature alone and let it run its course the way it is supposed to.
Women that can't have children or homosexual couples, there is always adoption. It doesn't cost millions and the child is wanting to be loved, why make a human when you can adopt one that wants a family as well? Also not only is it expensive but it would take many tries. Out of 1000 only about 30 will live. And think about it, the child would be BROUGHT into the world, not BORN. It's unnatural.
This links into the issue of playing god.
It is not our job to create life with the power (technology) we have. We must leave the creation of life to the natural process of birth, not cloning. Human cloning could lead to ethically wrong and inhumane actions such as organ harvesting. The novel Never Let Me Go explores this in great detail. Human cloning is wrong.
Some people can clone humans just to harvest the organs. Babies created by two people are protected by civil and birthrights, so if anything like harvesting organs happened to them, people will be punished. As in for clones, they aren't protected so if their organs were harvested, nothing would happen.
Just think that there are thousands of people in care around the world so if they make clones then no one would want to adopt anyone their for loads of children wont be loved by a real family. Also it is only available to rich people so people without money wont be able to do it.
If human cloning became a reality what checks and balances would be put in place to prevent abuse? Would scientists go overboard with the technology? If a couple has a clone that they are not happy with, what would they do next? Some have expressed the view that clones could be grown in a farm-like fashion simply for harvesting organs or stem cells. The potential for devaluing human life cannot be ignored. Plus it is extremely expensive eventually, if a country legalizes cloning the money will come from our pockets(tax) just like Ian Wilmut, co-creator of Dolly the cloned sheep, wants tax dollars to pay Big Biotech and their business partners in elite university life-science departments to conduct research into human cloning. IMAGINE the country will now be focusing more on cloning than real issues like teenage pregnancy or unwanted kids.
There are also the chances of emotional risks getting in the way of living a normal life. Like, what if some random person realized he or she was a clone to replace somebody who died. Think about the pressures in life that clone would go through knowing it was made to replace another. The clone will look the same but not act the same. So in other words, it will not be an exact replica of the other.
Even if human cloning would be beneficial, it would leave to overpopulation and you would have to raise the clone all over again. This means its life would begin all over again and its personality would be different. Imagine cloning Albert Einstein. Raising him from a baby but his personality would be different. It won't be the genius we all know and love, it would be a kid dude with an attitude or an artist. Even a singer. It all depends on the environment he grew up in. Even if it was an exact replica of Albert Einstein, (physically AND mentally) it wouldn't matter because he wouldn't be unique. If we cloned your boyfriend, your mom, your favorite teacher, they wouldn't be unique. All human beings are unique and replicating ourselves so we can live on? That's horrible. And some mad scientist would create a clone army. (I am NOT watching Star Wars right now if your wondering.)
We shouldn’t do GOD’s job of creating humans. We try so much to be like God that we mess up society more. For example when albert einstein created the atomic bomb; he had no intention for it to be used for mass destruction, but to discover the power of atoms. This discovery however was useful for warfare and it lead to many people using it in wars thus destroying millions of people and regions. Sometimes we shouldn't abuse our curiosity. It is better left wondering.
We are all unique! We cant all be the same it would no be right. We should just stop thinking about it and just call it quits. We should just stop. I believe we should stop because it is unatural and we are one of a kind. That is it.
Well they can do on any subject but its wrong to do that to a heart, liver or kidney but a other human ,that thats just wrong to do that to a human to a other human. In my opinion it should be against the law nd illigeal to clon people without medical use
Think of what the clone would have to live through. Every day he would get asked questions, and possibly , if the press is involved, be stalked every day of his life. How would he feel about not being his own, unique person, but instead a exact replica of another?
Think about it, how would a clone of someone who is very successful and smart feel if he is an under achiever or isn't as smart as the other, they would also suffer from a lot of pressure, they'd have to be the same as the original person. Think about it!!!!
There is a lot of risk to get the perfect human clone
It took 277 attempts to get a successful sheep (Dolly). If we try this with humans, many human clones will be deformed, born with bad diseases or will miss a leg or an arm. The successful clone is probably going to have a very drastic life, it may be cloned by an adult so he or she will have a shorter lifetime, he or she will not have the same human rights and will be discriminated by society because people will consider him or her as an experiment, not as a normal human being that has feelings.
Cloning of humans is wrong and should be banned. The cloning of babies can result in the death of the mother and baby. Also no two humans look the same, for a reason, they aren't meant to. We were all made to be different, the cloning will result in many babies having deformed bodies and being born without limbs. We know what a hindrance it can be for people missing arms or legs so why are we trying to increase that number? I don't think there is anything wrong with cloning organs and specific body parts to help humans, but cloning is wrong in so many ways.
CLONING OF HUMANS IS UN-NECCESARY
The cloned humans don't have a choice about their life and health, as clones tend to have poor health. I know that many humans are born with inherited health problems, but, if so, why create more? Also they spend their life as a science experiment. They might not enjoy that, you know, having an artificial life, not having any proper family, simple things we take for granted. And anyways, how do we know how they view the world, how they think? Maybe they find it all very... Torturing? I personally think it's really just not fair to them.
With cloning, while it may save lives, the clones themselves are also living beings. Living you're whole life knowing that you are nothing but parts is awful, and shouldn't even be considered. I agree that when you're life is in danger you could live if you just took it from you're clone. Also money could be used in other places. Life is precious and the reason for that is death. So chill with all the comments on how it could save lives, because while that's true, using another human being for the sake of saving yourself is selfish.
-The technology is unsafe as the success rate is 0.1% ~ 3%. Would be easier for you to understand if I said 970-999/1000 success rate.
-The clone will suffer from premature arthritis just like "Dolly" the cloned sheep.
-Even if there was a success, the clone might cause a crime, and the police won't be able to tell who's who since the DNA is exactly the same
If they say that cloning is just like having a "younger identical twin," do you still even have a conscience thinking that one day, that younger identical of yours would soon be killed just to fulfill your needs for your kidney transplants, heart transplants and etc., ??? And in fact, the entire world is already facing a lot of problems such as over population, so why would you risk creating more living organisms that will surely make this problem worse? Oh come on people,,!! Think!
Cloning sounds like a cool idea but honestly, look at the negatives. They will greatly outweigh the positives. Cloning organs to help the sick is fine by me, but cloning entire human bodies is not. Dolly the sheep is a great example, look at the huge cost and time and deaths in the process of cloning that ONE animal. We can't have that as humans.
It doesn't have the essence/the being of what it means to be human. Dolly the first cloned sheep may have been successful but how many malnourished animals, humans or sheep will it take to get it right? The cloned person may look like a human but does not have what it means to be human.
Think about it, currently our planet's resources are dying off slowly but what happens when you start cloning humans on a large scale, our planet could no longer support the amount of people on it. At the moment we are 7 billion people add another couple billion people to that number just to see what happens. It is said that in 50 years, and if the population keeps growing like it as been we would need another planet to sustain human life. That's why I believe cloning humans is wrong.
I don't know why people think that cloning is right ! If you really think about all of the taxpayers money is going towards clone funding! Also,it took a while to get the perfect sheep so imagine to get the perfect human.... That's going to take ALOT of money & next thing you know the United States will Be in dept ONCE more! Lastly, this planet is already OVER POPULATED! We don't need anymore people on this planet !
Some people say cloning is right because it can be used to save people’s lives for example if someone has kidney failure then they can get another from their clones. The reason why I think this is so selfish and just wrong is because imagine you are born and your only purpose in life is to be an organ donor, almost as if your whole life is meaningless. Others say it can help solve world hunger if they clone animals, looking at the movie Food Inc we can already see that there is surplus amount of cattle, livestock available and there is no need for cloning them because there is a huge abundance of them already its just the misuse of the corporations and companies, plus cloning so many animals would be a waste of alot of our tax money. Lastly other people say that cloning could be used in the army, to increase the manpower of one's country, but imagine this you are the clone and you are born for one purpose only which is to be an expandable and it would almost give the clone the feeling that he/she is worthless and that they have no other purpose in life. There are also family problems such as parents wont consider the clone as a son/daughter because they are not the “original”.
Cloning animals through somatic cell nuclear transfer is simply inefficient. The success rate ranges from 0.1 percent to 3 percent, which means that for every 1000 tries, only one to 30 clones are made. Or you can look at it as 970 to 999 failures in 1000 tries. That's a lot of effort with only a speck of a return.
The human body naturally makes sure that each person is specialy unique. When man messes with dna, good things aren't going to happen. To kill a unique person, simply to create a copy is completely idiotic. The health issues and dangers of cloning should automatically not make it an option.
God is not happy with people trying to do his job. Its like we do not need god because man i trying to play god its not right its wrong they have no right nor the power to create another human nor another animal or anything of that sort its wrong period point blank they have no right stop playing god its a big sin you should not want to commit..
Every person with the possible exception of twins should be unique and treasured for who he or she is. Plus the world already suffers of overpopulation, the last thing ti needs is more people sucking from its scarce resources. Also the global warming comes from people over exploiting the earths, clones would mean an unnecessary raise to the world population.
No matter what religion one partakes in or what faith one has cloning another human through science is just wrong. We don't even know if the development of the clone in the embryo state will even live to have human genes. In the united states its illegal and outlawed so what is the point of even trying if its going to probably end up in failure.
Yes, human cloning is wrong because it violates the Nuremberg code, that says that experiments cannot be conducted on human beings when it is known beforehand that death will result. We shouldn't be deliberately killing human babies just for progression in research. That is wrong. Most of the babies will end up deformed and will die in a matter of hours.
It is not your job to decide what people look like, its God's! If God wants two people to be alike, He makes twins. There is not need for YOU to decide to clone someone. It is not right of any person to do this to another human! Get a life and find something else to do in all your spare time.
God suppose to create us to represent him being unique. If we create someone compare to us(exactly the same) we are not representing God. God is our created, he decide when he takes and gives us life. We aren't God creating clones and taking their life when we want. Why we are trying to clone people when we can go and look for the cure of cancer.
It's just not right. And it's cruel to the clones. And it's stupid. Why would you waste millions of dollars on a something that has an extremely poor success rate? You wouldn't! And it could be used for so many bad things. There is no good reason why America should fund human cloning.
It would not be fair on the child growing up knowing he is a clone because it would make them feel like they were only created to look, act or be like a specific person and it would put them down knowing that. It would also be very hard if someone was a clone of a famous person because he would grow up and have to take the same path which is fame and also people would be really freaked out.
It is unethical and wrong. No good will come out of cloning a human, and would just complicate the world more than it already is. Not gonna happen with humans anyways - since it's near impossible. Not in a thousand years. Instead of trying to do something so trivial, why don't they research into more important/necessary matters such as a cure for cancer.
The process of cloning is to take the DNA from one organism and insert that DNA into an "empty" cell (by empty I mean without a nucleus) and this develops into a fully functioning organism with genetic material identical to that of the donor. Although this would seem to solve many current problems that we have, such as shortage of organ and blood donations, in the future it could present many problems. When you make a clone of someone, as mentioned before, that clone is genetically identical to that person. Individually this doesn't present a huge problem, however if this is done on a large scale and predominantly in a certain demographic of people, we will end up with a population with highly similar genetic material. This has a negative affect on the gene pool of the world's population, reducing the diversity of the genetic material. Therefore, when individuals are afflicted with various diseases, for example, due to the highly similar genetic material, a pandemic could wipe out entire populations, something that we would definitely need to avoid.
Besides religious reasons, there are many things wrong with this. You can say human cloning is right because it "saves lives." What's the point in making clones to use body parts if people die every day? People need to die naturally when it's time. We don't need to go against nature and try to save every human being that dies. There would be no cycle of life. Also, just think about it. Do you really want a room of breathing corpses just sitting there until you need to cut out a set of lungs or a heart? That is just ridiculous and not reality. People are going to die anyways so what's the point in spending all this money to pay for vegetables to sit in a room until you need body parts just so someone can live another couple years. What if they undergo this procedure, cut of a pair of lungs and put them in a human and they walk outside and get hit by a car? We can't control these things. Also, creating a corpse just to test it is cruel and inhumane. It's just so wrong in so many ways and I just don't see it being successful or even making a difference. People are always going to die. Clones are pointless and a waste of time.
Our population is a gargantuan number, imagine how bad it would be if we made human clones? We would have a sudden decrease in supplies and an increase in human labor, right? People would begin to protest about how even if they're clones they are still humans...Which would cause an even bigger debate.
No clones, no problems.
People have the right to be who they are and if there were clones, there would be consequences. "For every action, there is an equal and/or opposite reaction." This means that if we clone people, there WILL be dire consequences. It may be 20 years from now. It may be 20 minutes from now. But they eventually will happen.
I think it is wrong because it be weird to have a clone, if it doesn't have the same feelings and memories that you do. Plus, it doesn't make any sense to have a clone, if you need an organ and you take it, you wont be able to use any other organ because your clone is dead.
Most people would veiw clones as slaves just because they were made artificially. That doesn't make them any less human. People would just see a chance to make more money and would sell them. Human cloning should be banned because of what would happen to the slaves and how they would be treated.
We already have overpopulation in the world. More people or clones will make the pollution situation worse. I don't like thinking that the true world population will die out because of these clones. The people will die because pollution will ruin the air and atmosphere in which we live in. This pollution will also kill off the animals and plants we need to survive. How will we get the nutrients?
Sex is part of everyday life, and the next step in any relationship. If people are to marry and not depend on the sexual aspect of things, since people usually marry for sex, there will be less marriages. Less marriages leads to less children; less children leads to decrease in population; decreased population leads to lowered unemployment; lowered unemployment will boost the economy, and everyone will be happy. Clones should be allowed.
If this gets to be such a big thing going around, then it will eventually be a gigantic problem, since a lot of families will try this a lot of times. And, with the advances that are available today, the frequency of this can be fairly large around the world, ON TOP OF the world's population problem that's going on at the same time.
If we started cloning people we wouldn't be unique. We would all be the same and the same is boring. Plus what if something is wrong with the clone. People would be mean to the poor little clone. If people were just clones they would be the same because they wouldn't have the same personality.
Nature's way is that we reproduce by sexual intercourse. Messing with nature is wrong and if we begin to clone humans, the human population will all feel the need to look perfect. This means that everyone will look the same and no one will feel special anymore. Cloning means that diseases will be eradicated. As a result the human population will grow increasingly fast. Disease controls the population of the world so that we don't all starve. Cloning is wrong. God has made us unique.
Screw god, you can't force a religion on me that tells me what's right or wrong. We need to clone humans in order to progress as the human race! It's just like when people get all touchy on the subject of stem cells or abortion - your religion, not mine. If you don't like it to bad for you, we need to be able to create a person who is genetically identical to the person who was cloned. Think of all the uses the cloned body would have. If you needed a new set of lungs, well what do you know... A brand new set. These people would not be living, they would be vegetables who do not have a personality nor would they feel pain. We ned to boot morality out the door and focus on curing diseases that kill millions of people each year. If we had human test subjects that weren't 'living' we could solve problems faster! It's all of you softies that think it's inhumane. You want to know what I find inhuman, letting people in our own countries starve whilst we save those in Africa. Call me a monster but human cloning is the way to go and I'll stick by my argument till the day I die.
Dolly took 267 tries before she was made and she still had problems, and lived a much shorter life than all other sheep. There could also be overpopulation and a major shortage of food. This is a big problem for all humanity and the Government should ban it very soon.
It isn't certain that the clones will have the same personality as the original, and also it is not playing god because then wouldn't doctors also be playing god because they save lives and change fate that may not need to be changed. Doctors give drugs so that people feel better and could be saved.
It is a right that people of America should have. If someone has a failing heart they can reproduce them. If someone is hurting over a death, they can reproduce the child. It is smart and a futuristic idea. Right now it usually ends in failures but sooner or later it may just be another race in the world.
It can save lives due to the possibility of cloning organs such as hearts. And any one with religious arguments (life is sacred don't play god etc etc.), shut up, okay? Religion is an excuse to justify the un-justifiable. And even then it is a bad excuse. If god has spoken to you...You have ADD and you're hearing things that aren't there. God speaking is a medical DISABILITY.
I'm assuming that you are talking about therapeutic cloning, which is the process where you clone a human to get a human embryo so you can harvest stem cells so you can make organs and transplant those organs to people that need them. Of course this process kills the embryo. I view this like I view abortion, the embryo is not a person yet, not technically. They don't have any thoughts or experiences, they are living, but their life force, is nothing more than a flower or a blade of grass. And to kill a blade of grass so you can get an organ to save a life, is okay. Of course the cons to therapeutic cloning is how much it costs, but this debate is more about ethics than anything else, and killing a human embryo to save a life IS ethical.
We already play god; curing diseases, hospitals, reviving people who die of heart attacks, implanting embryos, etc. Why should cloning be treated any differently? The people arguing against human cloning speak about the cloned people as if they wouldn't be human. They could have every opportunity for intelligence as the person they were cloned from. They'd be nothing less than a younger identical twin. So why not clone? Even organ cloning would be incredibly helpful to humans as a species, if you could clone healthy heart or liver cells and implant them into the heart or liver of the person who gave the healthy, but needed the cloned ones to cure a disease or just an injury, they could live longer, because of a few cloned cells. How is that "wrong"?
We are in charge of our own fates, so why would we leave it to chance? Hypothetically, if god gave us the disease, with today's modern science, he's giving us the chance to change it. Why would we leave life threatening diseases in the hands of some higher power when the cure is right in front of us?
I don’t believe in it. Its not up to people to clone, only God can create life. You cannot reproduce a soul. It is impossible and the technology today wouldn’t be able to do it. Maybe one day they can complete the task of “cloning” it would just be a blob of skin because there wouldn't be a soul to control the body.
Human cloning is not bad because it is purely for science, religion is a whole other topic then cloning because although I respect your religion and your beliefs, your statement isn't what I would call correct. Human cloning already happens naturally for all those people who don't know that. There is something called human twins, duh, they are technically under the category of cloning. So, it is naturally and religion shouldn't be pulled into pure science.
First of all those who say it is wrong seem to be either stuped (the religeos) or misinformed.
If we cloned humans it would not be to make some sort of supreme army or race. It would be for organ transplants.
We would not replace our entire civilisation with clones. We would research cures for deseases.
We would solve world hunger by cloning animals (I know this topic is about human cloning)
and for you foolish zealots God is a load of sh*t.
And if anyone says 'prove that God dosent exist' I say-
"THERE IS NO NEED TO DISPROVE THE EXISTANCE OF SOMETHING, FOR WICH NO EVIDENCE EXISTS!!!"
don't hold us back...
The meaning of diversity would change. We are all one of a kind. Cloning would change the differences we see day to day in each other. If everyone in the world was cloned 100 times, do you think everyone would still be special? Maybe but would you feel special as an individual? Also, diseases you may carry would be cloned as well,so everyone cloned with a disease would eventually cause some type of nation wide out break. Therefore, I say no to cloning for the reasons above and many more.
I don't believe cloning is wrong but it does depend on the way it is used and who is actually cloned. I don't really see cloning actually being a commercial thing in the future but I could see the government doing this to basically to fill all the dangerous jobs that us natural people wouldn't want to do like fighting in wars and other conflicts and possibly beings servants/slaves or even doubles for important people. I wouldn't care if the cloning process wasn't abused and if the person being cloned gives their consent...
Why isn't it right to hurt humans yet we can clone animals? It seems unfair as humans are NO better than any animal. We are all living and we were all brought to this earth so it seems unfair to use animals for our scientific experiments. Also, we could find out a lot more about humans if we actually cloned humans and not animals, I mean it seems kinda hypocritical.
Do not go against mother nature. Think about what will happen if the clone take over our humanity. The riots that will take place due to religions like Christianity. What will happen if cloning is used for greed there Is still a chance that the clones could turn against us in this and what if we cannot stand each others existence what will happen then there is still a chance that that might happen don't you think? So save humanity and mother nature and that is my view.
Dangerous Very Harmful!
Simply because you believe your god created life does not mean everyone else have to abide by that belief. If an act of science is capable of producing life the question on whether it is ethical or not should not be a religious decision. If there is any benefit in cloning a human (can’t think of one) then no one has the right to halt scientific endeavour unless that endeavour poses a (real) risk to the world.
Human cloning might contribute to overpopulation, but I don't think it should be wrong. Human cloning is like a woman having a baby, except you know exactly what the baby will be like. If a great genius is cloned, then if one die of some reason, the other can resume the work. Having a cloned human would be awkward and strange, but it is not 'wrong'.
With current technology, cloning humans is way to dangerous to attempt. And the experiments required to get to a point where it might be possible would be highly unethical - at least until we have an artificial uterus. Cloning to produce personalized stem cells for medical treatment, on the other hand, is a technology that should be exploited ASAP, as it has the potential to reduce much human suffering.
More workers more money, more money equals better place to live. If we had a better place to live would u not want to live there I would. If u say we broke the building blocks of god bull there would need to a god first next if u were gonna die would u want to die right away or would u want to live by having extra organs.
Human Cloning has many positive effects. You can reproduce limbs and make babies for couples that can't. You don't need to automatically assume the world will be taken over by clones or anything. Its not like the robot catastrophe of '92. If you had the DNA, you could bring back extinct species and save the world from all those annoying organizations.
Identical twins share the same DNA, most of the time. They are accepted in our society... Clones would be able to develop different personalities by going through different experiences. They would be just like twins, however not born the same way. If and when we start cloning, for scientific research, all of these people will get over themselves and realize that it isn't wrong.
It depends on what type of cloning you are talking about. Therapeutic cloning involves cloning stem cells from an adult for transplants and medicine. To me this is not a problem and no offence, for those who are religious, how does this even affect you? However, I am against replacement cloning.
Human cloning isn't too far off the IVF treatments that some couples undergo to have a child. We already do so much to save and promote life, so why isn't human cloning acceptable yet? Currently we already give hope with IVF, transplants, by-pass surgery, pace-makers and doctors saving lives on a daily basis with their skills. If "God" created us perfectly, then whey did he create so many people with birth deformities, why did he let women get pregnant only to have the baby be still born? So many things contradict one another, the fact that people are against cloning is ridiculous. Get an education and actually research the methods and benefits before you make an opinion.
I'm no atheist but to say its wrong because of your beliefs is really stupid of you. It saves lives, and all of those people are basically saying saving lives is wrong yet they are the same people who believe life is precious. I believe that people die. That's just what people do. If science can fix that issue that would be pretty nice. Not to mention who wouldn't like raising a mini version of themselves its not like it would be an EXACT copy the clone would have same physical characteristics but not the same thoughts or personality.
If someone can't have babies cloning can be good. Say your family member was missing an organ. Would you want them to die knowing they could be saved by a cloned organ. Or like I said earlier with the baby thing, your wife, sister, friend, or cousin could not get pregnant. Wouldn't you want to help them out by having a cloned baby. Maybe you really want a baby. Just help them out.
Human cloning is not wrong as it occurs in nature when identical twins are born. By recreating this in a lab you are not doing anything wrong or in some way defying the laws of nature. And this does not make a person less unique as it does not matter if clones are identical the environment in which the clone is raised will make it uniique.
I think cloning is a good idea because it can help people that don't have organs, that they need. The doctors can just clone another human heart and just give it to the person in need.
Another reason is to reproduce animals, for example- there is only 1 tiger and 1 elephant left on earth scientists can just clone them and there will be more animals.
Human cloning is very wrong, I feel that you are testing God by doing it, and God should be the only one to create humans and genes. Another reason why human cloning is bad because you shouldn't be testing it out on animal, we should be treating them as one of us and not treating animals like there worthless; like there on this earth to provide us with food. They shouldn't be put through the suffering of cloning; for example dolly the sheep, who may of died young due to the cloning.
Cloning could be benificial to families that have lost a loved one have had a still born baby to bring them back so they can hav the time that was taken from them and it is up to whomever if they wished to be cloned and shouldnt be annyone elses choice
Cloning as such isn't bad but it can turn immoral and unlawful. For example, it took many tries and deformed embryos to make dolly - this cannot happen to humans. Maybe if they perfected their technique it would be ok to try on humans...But at the moment - no. On the other hand, imagine of you and your husband/wife were infertile. Cloning could really be of benefit to you. But if you stole stem cells from an embryo, it will obviously kill them, and that's where it could start to go sour
It isn't wrong...But it can be used wrongly. For instance, if you steal the stem cells off a baby (who rightfully owns those cells) and the baby will obviously die. That's the wrong way to do it. But what if you and your husband/wife were infertile, but you really REALLY wanted a child. Then you could really benefit from cloning.
In this world there are natural clones why not make one if we, humans, do it anyway. For example, Twins, they are naturally cloned. It would also help those people who are busy. For example, Moms don't always have the time to pick up their child of maybe don't have time to cook or clean. It could be helpful in many ways.
No. There is no crime in sharing your genetic code with another person. Any argument that assumes clones are not unique individuals also assumes that identical twins are not unique either. Cloning is simply another method of inducing a pregnancy; we have never gotten the technology to grow humans outside of a woman's womb, (though not for lack of trying) and human cloning research won't change that.
Talk of raising clone armies is ludicrous. One would have to wait the same 18 years until the clones reached adulthood to be good soldiers, not to mention the effort one would have to put in to indoctrinating and educating a whole army of people from birth. It would be much simpler to raise a regular army. Having an army of twins doesn't seem like any kind of military advantage anyway. The whole concept is a dumb idea.
To raise a clone from an embryo to birth you need a womb, which means in all likelihood that child is going to be raised in a family of some kind. How can you look at a child raised in a family like any other, with loving parents, and say "Due to how your parents conceived you, you are not really a person"?
One thing to remember about personality is that about half of it is genetics and the other half is environmental. Due to this, no two individuals are ever the same, even identical twins. Cloning imparts nothing more than the genetics, the different life experiences forges a unique individual.
Cloning gets a bad name from science fiction. Emphasis on the word 'fiction'. The idea that a clone will inherit memories or perfectly replicate a personality has no base in real science.
The only downside I can see to cloning is that we have so far to go before we're ready for human testing. The failure rates and health problems clones of animals develop need to be fixed before we start applying this potential-filled technology to human beings. Doing otherwise would be cruel. Clearly more research is needed.
By human cloning many vital organs of an individual can be recreated. For a better life it is necessary to stay fit and to stay to fit it is necessary for your vital organs to be fine and healthy. Besides after a hard work in this field if we mastered the human cloning project we would enter the new world of genetics and we will open a new gate of wonders in medical science, and this would not only benefit human race but also for some endangered and extinct species of flora and fauna.
We learn how to make clones with a proper success ratio, and even then it will all be dependent upon the result of what comes of human cloning. As of now, as far as everyone knows, a human has not been cloned, and until we find out what we get from human cloning we cant say it's wrong. However if we get this beast that lashes out at others due to it being a bad mark upon nature, of course cloning will be wrong.
Who wouldn't want their own celebrity? If you have a extreme celebrity crush like I do (ex. Josh Ramsay and Anthony Padilla) then it would be a dream to have a copy. I mean every woman would love a cop of Johnny Depp or Channing Tatum. Cloning is a-okay in my books.
Human cloning does not exactly mean that we are going to procreate a world of genetic twins to individuals. In the case of fertility yes the idea is to grow a child in a mothers uterus that is almost fully identical in genetic information. But to be able to develop an identical DNA replication in a human would be extremely beneficial in a world where there is an extreme need and desire for organ transplants. To be able to develop human tissues that are genetically identical to the individual in need would greatly reduce rejection rates. To harvest Adult Stem Cells to help with debilitating conditions like brain and spinal cord injuries would be a huge medical break through for many individuals who have families affected with severe medical complications including diabetes. The cloning would be of cells that are so "premature" that they have yet to be identified with a specific function. Then these cells are grown in a lab with the same genetic material as the donor and the inserted and placed into his/her body in the area of need. At this point the being to grown and their specific function will be determined with maturity. Those in need of brain or spinal repair would be greatly affected because the brain does not have the ability to grow new cells for repair. So yes human cloning on a micro level is very important. Though it is not as abstract as a life size adult identical to its "twin" DNA. We are still cloning human cells.
Cloning can lead to many good things. Imagine a world of clones. There would be no more racism, no more disease (with the perfect clone), and less inclination towards war. People would be more competitive with each other, because you had to work for whatever you have. With war and disease in check, we could focus our resources on much better things, such as space exploration, and learning more about the world around us. There is awesome potential cloning.
Any current issues with the safety of cloning will be and are in the process of being ironed out, I read an article somewhere, not sure how old it was, that said that another attempt to clone Dolly was four times as successful as their first attempt, that's very significant.
It is a good idea, not because 'screw god' or 'we do what we want' but because of the medical benefits! Saving endangered species! Science and religion are two completely different things, so to bring God into this argument is invalid to the actual topic! Also, some people aren't religious, so stop talking about it that way!! It helps medical problems by cloning healthy organs and replacing the diseased ones, possibly SAVING LIVES. Not because 'screw god.' Another thing, religion is an OPINION. Guess what doesn't belong in a debate? OPINIONS. Guess what should be in a debate? FACTS.
Cloning body parts can become a life-saver. The vital organs of human body can be cloned and used as back-up in case of an organ failure. When a crucial body organ such as kidney or heart fails to perform its normal functions, it can be replaced with a cloned organ substitute.
Cloning can also provide a viable solution to infertility in human beings. It can help the infertile individuals in producing children. Cloned embryos can be planted into women’s bodies to produce babies. Also, cloning can make it possible to reproduce a certain desirable trait in human beings through the cloned embryo.
Technologies used in cloning can also serve a useful purpose for the researchers in genetics. Cloning technologies may help to understand the composition of genes and their effect on human traits and behavior in a more comprehensive and elaborate manner. Cloning can also make it possible to alter genetic constituents in cloned humans, so as to simplify their analysis of genes. A wide range of genetic diseases can be averted through cloning.
Genetic alteration of plants and animals can also be enabled by cloning. It can also help to replicate animals that can be used for research purposes by scientists.
Maybe we all have the misconception that doctors are actually going to put humans in a copy machine and then create clones of us. Sorry, but the real thing is just done through acquiring sperms and eggs to create an embryo that is highly identical to us. This would be great for us because then the stem cells would help us replace damaged organs or create organs. This has nothing to do against God. (I am only writing his name like that due to respect to people who really believe in stuff like this strongly). If you see Jesus, he would heal people, pasted the ear of someone when one of his disciples attacked him. If anything Jesus heals people and prolongs the life of many people. Here, we are using knowledge to prolong the life of people, something that to me is very "christ-like"
Cloning a human being is extremely expensive and it has too high of a chance of failing, it is estimated that it will cost 2 million dollars to clone and a 0.1 percent chance of being a success, it could also lead to chaos in the world and less diversity between people which makes us who we are.
People who say that "playing god" stuff are being dumb. If we were to play god, then we could have anything we wanted and have it in an ethically sound way.
Cloning isn't bad as long as it's not organ farming or something that could be in a dystopian movie. Clones are as much people as the next person with the only difference being that they share the same DNA as the source. When the clone is growing up they will have different style different hardships and loads more. By the end neither two are the same being. For this I assume they have separate souls because they are different "people" (I say people assuming the definition of people being a personality), therefore they fit into God's kingdom just like any other does.
I saw an argument down below that said something on the lines of "what if a clone tries to be it's source?" my argument for this would be "have you ever tried to be someone else and felt comfortable doing it?" since these people are two separate people they have two different styles. By mere appearance and genetics you cannot have the same personality as another.
For the argument "if a clone is the same as me, he can use my passport" the solution would be to blacklist passports of people with clones.
For the argument "clones live shorter lives" i know that this is a problem that comes from not using stem cells but the bigger part of the problem is that we need to get better and more efficient at cloning. Modern medicine will develop with more clones and eventually most of the quirks will be gone. It won't be perfect but it will get better. As for getting stem cells, that's not impossible.
"clones will get bullied or abused by some evil corporation" only if you let this happen. I don't hear IVF kids getting bullied. My friend is IVF
By authorizing the experimentations of human cloning it would drastically increase our knowledge of how to cure diseases such as cancer. Some people may find it unethical however i see it illogical to not pursue knowledge, especially when the benefits that could possibly be achieved are so high. = =
Cloning can be used to further human medicine and organ transplants. When one of the nay-sayers needs something medically, I doubt they would turn down a heart, for example, that came from a clone. I don't think a person should be cloned to replace a dead child/family member because that could just lead to mental instability in the living relatives, death needs to be dealt with on every level.
I think that human cloning is completely wrong because lets say that you lost somebody and you want to clone him to have him again but that’s also a way of saying I am replacing you. Also nature creates something for a reason and if you clone a person, well, that’s against nature. One should try to live with what they have and if it’s gone it’s gone. And also probably people want to clone other people to get soldiers for war but you shouldn’t be making wars against other countries. And a person, or most people, are unique and want to be unique so I don’t think people will really like for themselves to be copied again, and again, and again. They wouldn’t be unique anymore. And since we probably don’t know much about human cloning that would mean taking risks and what could happen if the clones grew up like a normal human and have feelings too? I guess you wouldn’t want to be a copy of another person. I think is totally disrespectful to clone a person.
God made us in a way and if he didn't want us cloning then why can we clone a sheep! I do not believe in "God" but if he did exist he would give us a message not to clone! Until I see proof that we where not meant to clone should clone!
How can we say its wrong when our whole "soul" and emotions are just electrical currents in our brain, it's silly to think that sharing a genetic code is wrong. It's the next stage in our existence, plus for all we know goverments around the world are trying to clone the "perfect" soldier. We can't stop it so why try?
Our society can benefit from cloning. Science fiction stories have put altered views into the minds of many people, but I think it scares them because it is so new. Cloning has the potential to produce enormous health benefits. One benefit is to create better genetically engineered animals to treat human diseases. Another benefit is to create models for the study of human diseases. There is also a possibility to regenerate human tissue such as skin and spinal cord tissue and maybe even organs if the technology has a chance to develop. However, the discussion is ahead of the science right now according to Dr. Harold E. Varmus. Right now cloning is very unsuccessful. Out of 277 embryos, Dolly was the only survivor.
Do you know how many countries there are on Earth? Do you know how many religions there are on Earth? Do you know how many times each one of those things I just listed has stalled human technology and advancement? Over 100 for all three. Please, I beg of you, people of our planet, stop and think for one second. Are the people of Earth not in one massive civil war right now? Instead of having one unified nation called simply "Earth" or something along those lines we have over 100. Instead of dropping religion, we fight thousands of wars over religion in the process killing and hindering BILLIONS OF PEOPLE FOR THE LAST SEVERAL THOUSAND YEARS! If you all claimed to be religious and follow your "God's" works, you would stop it. We could advanced our society. You all complain about human indecencies and saying that this doesn't follow the will of "God". If your "God" put us on this planet with free will, why the hell can't we experiment with the tools he gave us? Damn it people! Why must you bring in religion in to everything? Are you so blind that you can't see that only the "religious" people cause the majority of problems? Have you ever thought that "God's" PLAN FOR US was to join him in DIVINITY AND BECOME "GODS"? If not, why did he give us free will?
Think about all the good things cloning could do. It could save lives and cure all kinds of things and science could keep growing and don't try using religion as a way to change peoples minds and away to get what you want. Think of all the people we could save.
Ignorant people believe that cloning is used to create just an exact copy of another human, and that's so wrong. Nowadays cloning help people to recover from illnesses such as leukemia, down's syndrome, cystic fibrosis, failures in kidneys, liver, hearts, spinal cord, etc. Cloning also help infertile couples, making them possible to have a baby!
Please people, get to know more about this topic, it's great what scientist have done
Half of the arguments here are invalid. Cloning cannot bring back Hitler and it can't bring back Einstein either. Twins are natural clones. Do they behave the same as eachother? Not necessarily. Cloning is unethical? Cloning may open up research that could reshape fertility and medical research greatly. Banning cloning is limiting the reaches of science. If there are willing participants and a reasonably safe process of.Attempting to.Clone a human, there is no reason that we should prevent this. What if someone found a way to stop aging? A way to cure.Cancer? But oh, that research came.From.Cloning. Are you not going to reap that benefit ?
Why would we not be able to clone humans it wouldn't hurt anything it would get us farther in human research and if people who are religious you don't have to listen or pay attention just because you thinks it's wrong and doesn't want us to improve science doesn't mean we cant clone humans. It would also be kinda cool.
The process of cloning is just taking the DNA of something and putting it in an egg cell then into a serogant mother. So a baby would be born with the genetic traits of the egg and whoever the DNA came from. If they perfected the process of cloning it would just be another way parents could have kids if for some reason they were infertile. So the baby would be born to extremely loving parents who paid a lot of money so they could have a beautiful baby. It could create a baby that has the traits of two men or two women. Its really beautiful to help make a family. The only problem is people telling other people that everyone should believe what they believe. Its America people have the right to believe in what they want but they don't have the right to make other people believe and act the way they do.
