Is it easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than it is for a rich man to get into heaven?

  • Wrong translation of the passage

It is easier for a camel hair thread to pass through the eye of a needle.

The whole point is that money has a corrupting force, making it more difficult for a person of means to remain righteous in the face of corruption. Being rich doesn't make you condemned for eternity, it just means you need to watch yourself more closely to 'stay right with god' due to the intoxicating nature of power in general.
