  • Yes, autonomy and freedom of speech

Autonomy is the right to do whatever you want, and freedom of speech. About one million immigrants come to the USA in a year, some legal and some illegal. Some of them actually care about America, and some don't. You can really do anything in this country unless its against the law, even though it is a sad thing to desecrate the American flag because of its symbolism.

  • Freedom of Speech

I am a very patriotic American. I love my country and I respect the people of this country. I would never do anything to harm an American flag, whether it would be ripping it, dropping it on the ground, setting it on fire, spitting on it, pissing on it, etc. I would never do any of that to the flag of my country. However, I do protect the right of others to desecrate the flag because it is their freedom. Our country has stood for freedom for years. That fact that in the U.S. we are allowed to say that we hate the U.S. is one of the greatest things about it. If I were in an authoritarian country and said that I hated it, I could be put in jail. Imagine how much that would escalate if I were to burn the flag of an authoritarian country in that country. My point is, even though I don't agree with what these anti-Americans say or do, I will defend their right to exercise their first amendment.

  • It is legal.

Even though I greatly despise people who do so, unfortunately it is protected under the first amendment. It is a form of expression, to show a message, I see it as an act of treason, but they can do it because it is legal and they are unable to be punished for it. It is really sad as a foreign born individual and now a American patriot to see people commit heinous acts such as burning the flag .

Is it right? No. However, American law states that laws against desecrating the American flag infringe on people's first amendment rights. I personally am against it, but a person can desecrate the American flag as much as they so desire. The action is frowned upon, but it is legal.

  • ? ? ?

Why would you even think about desecrating the american flag (or trust wikipedia). Just to clear this up. What would provoke you to desecrate our flag and disrespect our nation (like kneeling during the anthem). You would have to be a complete idiot to do anything remotely close to that.

Technically, it IS legal. The morals of it are a completely different story.
