Is it the responsibility of the U.S. military to fight somebody else's war?

    It's not necessary for our armed forces to get involved in every foreign conflict. I say this because historically, the wars we got involved in (e.G. Vietnam and the civil war in Somalia) ended up being pointless. U.S. Rangers and Delta Force entered Somalia in the early 90s with the intention to capture a Somalian warlord, but the mission failed and the 19 soldiers who lost their lives died in vain.
