  • People want honesty

When someone ask you for your opinion they want the truth. They want the truth. They don't want you to lie and say something you think they want to hear. If there is no honesty you can't belive anything. What kind of world would it be if you never know if something is true or just another lie.

  • Honesty Begets Trust

When people are truly honest with each other, that policy begets respect and then trust. Honesty may not be the "touchy-feely" way to get things done, but at least there is no doubting someone's sincerity. Honesty takes the fear away from human relations as everyone knows exactly what to expect. If more people were simply honest with each other, imagine the strife and heartache that would be eliminated in the world today.

  • No, honesty is sometimes overrated.

People who argue that honesty is always best are speaking from a high horse, not considering the gray areas. Sometimes a lie is best, but it depends on your definition of best. If best means "most kind," then it is better to lie to a dying relative asking if you are their long-dead spouse as they pass then insisting harshly but honestly, "No, grandma, it's not your husband."
