For generations we have struggled against racism and sexism. Today, we struggle against homophobia. Representation is important everywhere. People want to see people like them whether its sex, race, or sexuality. Children also learn tolerance the more they see it positively represented. To change future generations' view on sexuality, we must change how they see it.
Okay so maybe gay imagery is something you don't want to see, then don't see, it ignore it. It's not as if the material itself is offensive, it won't matter to the people that don't care and for the people that do care they will enjoy it because it represents them and their interests.
There may be some entities on the television that are within their legal authority to censor, but it doesn't make it right. Expressed banning of images simply for the fact that they portray gay behavior is a means of exclusion and discrimination. There is no benefit to it, except for trying to create an alternate image from reality.
No, it isn't wrong to ban gay images from cable television because although gay marriage was legalized by the Supreme Court, many Americans today are still opposed to gay marriage. In the Republican party, all the 2016 presidential candidates have said that marriage should be between a man and a woman despite the Supreme Court's decision. Gay images should not be shown on cable television because it is still a hot button topic in America.
