Is media responsible for the loss of cultural norms?

  • Yes, the media is responsible for the loss of cultural norms.

The media blows many topics out of proportion. They also only report some of the truth in order to make stories appear more interesting than they are. This has lead people to act out and behave unacceptably. They think that this is acceptable behavior because the media has skewed cultural norms.

  • The loss of cultural norms cannot be blamed on the media

I do not hold the media responsible for the loss of cultural norms. Today, the media is intensely ratings-driven, meaning that society drives what the media presents to them. The media is only giving the public what it wants and nothing more - a classic case of the tail wagging the dog. Society needs only look at itself if it wants to gauge if cultural norms are lost instead of blaming external forces such as the media.
