  • Technically It is

All religions are cults, maybe not bad, but they are cults.
Cult- a system of religious veneration and devotion directed toward a particular figure or object. Mormons are praying to a certain god so it is a cult. Not all cults are crazy and are harmful, but some can be.

  • Only a tiny fraction of religions can actually be called a cult.

Cults do not allow members to leave. The Mormons, as well as most religions, do not kidnap wayward members to force them back into the church.

A generic definition of cult fails when applied to most religions.

A generic definition of hypocrisy, on the other hand, pretty much fits most all of them.

  • Mormonism isn't a cult

This is a source from www.lds.org. This is for your own thoughts only!

Jesus Christ is the Only Begotten Son of God, the Eternal Father. He is the Creator of this world. Through His incomparable mortal ministry, He is our teacher. Because of His Resurrection, all who have ever lived will be raised from the dead. He is the Savior, whose atoning sacrifice paid for the sin of Adam and opened the door for us to be forgiven of our personal sins so that we can be cleansed to return to the presence of God, our Eternal Father. This is the central message of the prophets of all ages.

  • LDS is definitely not a cult

A cult is very different from a religion. Religion is a normal thing that most people have belonged to at some point. A cult is a rarer thing that most people have not belonged to. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is a church. A religion. Not a cult
