Is Obama's plan to close Guantanamo Bay and relocate its detainees a viable one?

  • Not well informed on the matter

To be honest, I am not aware of the total cost of the plan to relocate the detainees. Despite this, I am of the mindset that the prison should have been closed a long time ago. It has an irreparably damaged legacy and a relocation plan is something that is appears to be more in tune with the direction that most Americans believe the country should be heading towards.

  • Obama's plan to close Guantanamo Bay and relocate its detainees is viable

Obama's plan to close Guantanamo Bay and relocate its detainees is viable, but it is not realistic, of for no other reason that there is not the political will to do it. We heard from day one of Obama's presidency how he was going to close Guantanamo, and here we are seven years later and nothing has changed. There is no reason to believe it will.

  • Yes Close Guantanamo Bay.

Guantanamo Bay is nothing but a beacon now for middle eastern people to unite against the United States. Whether it is true or not, whether the lawyers and politicians nit pick about what torture is, and Whether or not anyone agrees, that place has a reputation of torture and humiliation. It needs to close so that other things, such as peace in the middle east can be won.

  • Guatanamo Bay prisoner's are too radical to be relocated

The Guatanamo Bay detainees are so radicalized moving them into a general population area is like injecting cancer. These men are older, focused and deeply radicalized. Their only focus for the last few years is to get back at the West in any way they can, which would include Jihad. Another issue is the fact that Congress does not want Guantanamo Bay closed and have managed to block it during almost the entire presidency of Barack Obama so I don't see that changing anytime soon.
