  • Get to the bottom of things, explores questions about the world NOBODY dares to explore

Fact: Isaac Newton was a natural philosopher until he was interested in physics. Needless to say, philosophy expands our critical thinking skills and the ability to justify well- which is a skill needed in numerous subjects. Like Rene Descartes said, "It's not enough to have a good mind. The main thing is to use it well." Studying philosophy allows me to understand the world and myself deep, after all, what is the point in living itself? Philosophy promotes our own opinions since there is no right or wrong answer. Philosophy raises our social awareness on ethical issues these days, such as abortion and genetic engineering. Finally, philosophy and science weren't as different in the olden days. No philosophy definitely means no science nowadays.

  • Yes philosophy is useful.

Philosophy is very useful, even in this day and age. It allows people to expand and imagine greater ideas that science can help prove or disprove. In fact most philosophy is questioned by scientist and then tested which keeps both forms of idea and thinking expanding greater and greater. Without philosophy we would have not traveled to the stars, come up with some of the amazing technology that we have, and some of the greatest theories would have never been invented.

  • A tool since the beginning of time

Philosophy has been around literally forever, even if people did not realize it. Philosophy is simply the the far from simple study or question about the greater questions of life, love, death, time or anything that is man originated and has no definite answer. Philosophy is extremely important because it allows people to share their views on current and not so current issues, it brings people together and tears people apart. Philosophy is the pure essence of what drives people mad, and what keeps them sane.

  • A journey to nowhere

Philosophy is honestly the equivalent to mental masturbation. It doesn't offer answers just more questions. For a field about the pursuit of wisdom it does a very poor job of the whole thing. I mean what good is an endless stream of questions. Even philosophy can't solve the problem of suicide, or why life is preferable to death. It's useless.
