  • This lie is destroying American families and corrupting the hearts of young men and women.

Even when one isn't being paid to make pornography, they are committing an immoral act which will lead to destruction and suffering. Has anyone stopped to consider that the word porn is from the Greek word which means, "sexual immorality."? "judge a tree by its fruit." 40 percent divorce rate, abortions, and diseases, all the result of man and woman not knowing what love is, for they are not seeking the higher power. Mind you, I used to be enthralled with pornography, but Christ had mercy on me and now I see the true sacred value of making love. I encourage others to ask God to show them what is good and lead them away from what is destructive.

  • You are paying to watch someone have sex.

Buying porn is prostitution because you are giving money to a person in exchange for sexual pleasure. Also, the orn stars are basically prostitutes because they are being paid to do sexual acts on camera. That is what prostitution is - being paid to perform sexual acts. The only difference is that the porn star are not there in person, you are watching them from a screen. But they are still being paid to have sex.

  • People aren't getting the point of the question.

Some here are saying it's completely different because porn is a media, that's not the question!!
The question is, is being a prostitute any different from being a porn star? No it is not.
"But pornstars get checked." Well, don't you wipe public toilets' seats before you seat in them? Cause if you don't ye might get wet. Same rule applies, some porn stars have got diseases, and many prostitute s haven't.
When you buy porn (in case you don't know it's available for free), isn't your money, in the end, going to a woman and a man who are selling their bodies for sex..?

  • You are still selling your physical body to satisfy other people's sexual needs.

Pornography is, essentially, a branch of prostitution; it is still 'the practice or occupation of engaging in sexual activity with someone for payment'. The only thing that comes under consideration is the illegality of prostitution itself. However, it still remains that, pornography involves a person selling their physical self to satisfy other people's sexual urges and needs in return for financial gain.

  • It's Sexual Intercourse for Money

Most forms of pornography (such as porn films) would be characterized as forms of prostitution as the people starring are being paid, sometimes very well, for their actions. It doesn't really matter where the money is coming from- it's still prostitution by definition. They're so close they're really just one and the same. Too bad they didn't want to ban both porn and prostitution.

  • Pretty Much, Yes

The definition of prostitution is the practice or occupation of engaging in sexual activity with someone for payment. Not all forms of pornography would include the act of engaging in sexual of activity with someone, but most would. Therefore, I believe pornography is a form of prostitution, since it fits the definition.

  • Pornography and Prostitution Go Hand in Hand

Women in pornography are paid to have sex with men and other women. Men are paid to have sex with men and women. Therefore, pornography is really no different than prostitution. While it shouldn't necessarily be deemed illegal, it should be more tightly regulated and scrutinized. Otherwise, companies can take advantage of these sex workers.

  • Porn is not prostitution.

Pornography is a highly regulated industry where most participants are taken care of and protected through various health measures. Prostitution is cut throat and often times deadly for many of the participants involved. The two industries are not even close to each other so I find the comparison a bit bizarre.

  • No it is not.

There is the letter of the law, and then there is the spirit of the law. The letter of the law could interpret that a pornographic image or movie is providing a sexual service for money. This is not what the law was intended for though. It was meant for those who provide sexual acts and the person receiving the acts pays for them.

  • Close, but not.

Even though I think some people do look at Pornography as the basic same thing and Prostitution, it is not the same thing. Porn stars I am sure are always tested before shooting a movie or scene, so everyone is clean, and they are not having sex with complete strangers.

  • Pornography is not prostitution

Pornography is only la visual medium and there is nothing tactile about it. You are not entering an agreement with anyone personally, but you are simply watching an act. Prostitution would be where there was physical contact and that there would be an exchange of money for the contact. Not the same as pornography.

  • Pornography is a business, and is not forced on people

Just like many businesses in the United States started out foul, namely the agricultural slavery of the south, they eventually became better. Slaves were replaced by waged workers, being paid at least minimum wage. In this sense, the pornography institution as a business pays their workers a fair share, additionally it is a choice, not required.
