  • Social Security

Social security is funded through a tax that occurs during payroll. Any American that gets a paycheck pays in to social security and so it is funded automatically by those who are working. This means that the program is paid for already by the workers in the workforce and always continually funded by new workers. This makes it the best-funded government program.

  • No

Social security was probably the best ideas ever produced; however, the prominence of the program has dramatically shifted. People who are paying for social security now will probably never see a penny of it in the future unless reforms are made to the program. The social security fund is quickly diminishing making it an ineffective method of providing for the elderly.

  • Social security is NOT the best-funded government program.

Social security, if left to itself would be the one of the best funded government programs. However, man parts of the government have for a long while been "borrowing" money from the social security fund, which creates a huge problem in future funding, exacerbated by the fact that more and more Americans are not only living to the retirement age, but well past it.

  • No, it is not well funded enough.

Social security does not have enough funding to sustain itself, especially with the again population and higher number of retirees. It's also a target by politicians who want it to fund other programs. Taxes need to be increased on the wealthy to fund the program to make sure people are financially secure in retirement.
