  • Aang is og!!!!!!!!!

Korra would be bending just air if AANG didn't meet the Lion Turtle. He is the first Avatar to have the power of taking away bending. He would have done everything she did but better if taking on her challenges. No doubt about it. If you think Korra is better you don't know what you are talking about . If you have an IQ over 2 you will agree with me. AANG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IS!!!!!!!!!!! BETTER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THAN!!!!!!!!!!!! HER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - such a dic all you Korra fans .

  • Aang is better

Aang is a much better avatar than Korra because if you break up the question it becomes two, Who is the best bender and who is the best with their spiritual connections? Korra was defeated so many times it's unbelievable she was the avatar. She may have been a great bender with 3 natural elements, but Aang mastered every single one in a year and was a master airbender at the age of 12 (that's why he has his arrows) Korra also struggled to learn airbending. Aang takes the cake with bending. Now, spiritually Aang was still stronger. Korra lost her connection with her past lives and nearly failed to beat Vatuu if it wasn't for Jinora. She struggled to enter the spirit world in season 1 as well. Aang's spiritual connection was much stronger and he actually asked previous avatars for help. Korra went in blindlessly and most of the time failed. Aang proves to be victorious. Bonus Points: Korra lost her bending but Aang gave it back and taught her how to give and take bending. Aang in the Avatar State is also less of a wimp. Korra in the avatar state can be beaten up terribly (shown in season 3 when she battled Zaaher.) Aang is basically unstoppable in the avatar state besides when Azula zapped him. In his battle with ozai, he goes apeshit after playing defensive the entire fight. Aang is a better Avatar and bender.

  • Aang is so much better

He is obviously better while watching legend of Korra, Korra bored me out every moment she was on screen while aang was actually a good character. Korra is not a good avatar she seems to just get lucky and not work so hard like aang does. Aang's series was much better!!!!

  • So much more powerful

Aang is unbelievable strong in the avatar state because he had not opened his last chakra and could not control the avatar state when he wanted with that said he use all the power for his passed live Korra just goes into the avatar state when she wants and still ends up getting wrecked. Plus when she lost her bending Aang had to give it back.

  • Aang lost all of his people, not some, no, ALL OF THEM. Aang was able to beat Fire lord Ozai the day of Sozin's Comet.

Korra is a very powerful Avatar but Aang is God mode in the Avatar state. Anyone who went against Aang in the avatar state was screwed the only time he got screwed over was when Azula shot him in the back with lighting. Ozai was screwed as soon as we saw Aang's hand grab his beard. Aang even took Ozai's bending away. The most powerful guy in the world besides himself and he took his bending away.

  • Oh, most definitely

Everything else aside, raw power counts for a lot. There were many scenarios where if Aang, instead of Korra, had been present, the crisis at hand would have been solved. Korra behaved as if she were in a bending match in almost all of her battles, and never showed much creativity.

Additionally, Aang was much more mature, well rounded, and powerful, at a younger age, with less support.

  • Korra is better than Aang period

When you look at the question you can split it up into 2 questions. 1. Who is more powerful/who can in in a fight. And 2. Who is the better Character/Avatar. To me I think Korra wins both. I read a lot of peoples answers and many think that Aang is more powerful than korra but I disagree. Throughout the whole Korra series it was mostly about Korra finding herself and that journey concluded in book 4 with Korra after years and years of hardships can overcome and do anything. Zaeer said in book 4 after Korra said her powers had limits but then Zaeer said "I think your power is limitless". I knew that would come back into the finale and was right when Korra blocked the Spirit weapon and even Kuvira realized Korra was way more powerful than her. I still agree that Aang is a very powerful Avatar but I think Korra can do much more than Aang making her able to beat him in a fight.

Now the second question deals with Character and whos is better. I think Korra wins this too. Korras character arc was much better than Aangs and way more intriguing. Aangs arc basically involved this. He started out as a very goofy and powerful kid and ended a very goofy and powerful preteen. Of course he grew up to be amazing man but im just talking about the confines of the show. Korra on the other hand had a much better story arc. She started out as a bratty, selfish teenage girl with romance problems and by the end turned into a selfless and extremely powerful Young women. I think most of that is due to the short arcs in the Korra story compared to the long arcs in Avatar. Also the villains in both series were amazing but I think we got to see Korras character brought out more in a several villains aspect of the show.

In the end the very definition of being an avatar is bringing balance to the world and even though Aang did bring balance by ending the 100 year war and starting Republic city he still fell short of korra. Korra had to defeat a master blood bender and have to deal with losing her bending. Then she had to deal with losing the only spiritual help she had, after that she got paralyzed and completely hit rock bottom and with no help from the other avatars she found her self again. And through all of that she managed to keep the world balanced making her the better Avatar.

  • Aang beats Korra

First of all, Aang did not have just enemy. Over the course of the seasons, he faced many more enemies than Korra ever did. He faced not just the firelord, but also Zuko, Azula, Ti Lee, Mei, combustion man, zhoa, jet snd more. And also, he mastered all of the elements in a year, unlike Korra.

  • Korra is emotionally stronger

First off Korra is older so she is more mature than Aang, and she has went up against hardcore villains that didnt just want to kill her but her entire past lives. Legend of Korra is just on a much deeper level than Avatar. Not to mention Korra is dealing with more political issues and she is pretty damn hot..Dont even get me started on korrasmi

  • They're about equal

Watsonianally, Korra took down the Equalists even after losing her powers, and UnaVaatu even without Raava, and then the Red Lotus while poisoned. She also does pro-bending pretty well, which is cool. Oh, and finally, she takes down Kuvira, but by talking her down, which is pretty impressive. She also makes her mark on the world what with opening the spirit portals and stuff. Doylianally, she has had to go through a lot; her arc with the poison and fear is very good, though maybe not as good as Zuko's. Her loss of connection to the past avatars is a big deal and interesting. I don't think there's much to definitively put Aang above Korra.

  • We got noobs up in here

It is important to note that the question asks who is better.... Not who is better at fighting, or who is your favourite. Just better period. It's actually very similar to the Batman vs Superman argument that always goes into who would win a fight, versus who is actually a better developed character (undeniably Batman btw).

    Anyways....

Combat wise I'd say inconclusive or even irrelevant, as the way the characters are portrayed in their respective shows are at odds. In Legend of Korra, they are more about the human struggle element versus the happy fun times party crew who chew through opposition in the latter.

Therefore, Korra struggles with most of her opponents (who are undeniably more dangerous), and Aang only struggles when the creators need to make a villain actually look competent. Its the style of show more than the actual characters themselves that determine combat.

Small side note: Aang in Avatar mode is awfully power level over 9000/predictable trump card, while Korra's is more triumph/tenacity of human spirit. Her Avatar mode being used more often makes it less of a one trick pony, and more apart of her actually being the Avatar.

Regardless, on to the real question of who is ultimately a better character, it >is< Korra because she is an infinitely more relatable character, who has poor patience, self doubt and actually struggles with the small things in life in addition to her larger role in the world. Relatable characters are >typically< better characters in terms of overall character design. The more aspects of a hero/villain you can relate to, the more they are liked. Usually... Voice acting and actual storyline come into play as well.

Case and point would be how Unalaq (although the 'strongest' villain' considering he was literally an evil Avatar) was really the worst villain out of the others as he was:
    1) Royalty << not something most can associate with most
    2) Poorly Developed Reason for Being Evil
    3) Emotionally dead outside of the 'evil' archetype

    Versus Kuvira who was:
    1) Rank and file << ie: relatable
    2) Excellently developed reason for conquest
    3) Emotionally invested in aspects outside of world conquest

Now the rest of you can go ahead and change your votes because dis logic is unassailable.

  • Other than the Nostalgia

I believe Korra is definitely better than Aang.
Her struggles, development, independence and mold breaking personality are just 1000x better than Aang.
I agree that TLA was better structured than TLOK, and Aang's team was better, but Korra as character was just more relatable, more fun and stronger.

  • Korra is a better avatar.

When you look at it, korra has went through MUCH more than aang has. She had to fight the equalists, having her bending taken away(and got it back). She had to fight unalaq, went to the spirit world and she fought during harmonic convergence. She fought against 4 of the world's greatest criminals and was poisoned. Then, she fought kuvira and bent the spirit light, opening up another spirit portal. Korra has saved the world alot more times than aang has, plus she has accomplished more. While she went through these, aang just had to defeat the fire lord and deal with yakone.

  • Aang is better the korra by far.

First Korra couldn't air bend she could only bend earth, fire and water. Also she was taught by the white lotes that Aang set up. She lost her bending and Aang have to give it back. Also she be beaten like more times then Aang. Plus Korra's gang is just a knock off really comapred to Aang's. So overall Korra failed as the Avatar so that is why is i dont think she is better then Aang

  • Aang was far better than Korra

Korra had her whole life training to be the avatar, Aang had a few months before he was trapped in ice. Korra did have more enemies, but Korra had a much longer timeline, Aang had only a year to defeat Ozai and master all the elements and master the avatar state. Korra had many more years than Aang did and still she didn't even come close to his progress. Korra broke down over every little thing. While Aang had to get over the destruction of his entire family. Aang also understood the importance of balance, Korra just had tenzin tell her how to maintain balance and those around her instead of the previous avatars. In regards to Yakone, Aang defeated him quickly before he could become a problem, Korra couldn't touch Amon or Tarrlok. In the end the only people she actually defeated was Vaatu. She did not defeat Amon, Zaheer, nor Kuvira. Aang not only defeated enemies without killing them but in some cases he converted them to his cause as an avatar should. Aang was better than Korra in every aspect.
