    I wrote a paper on this earlier in the semester. The Tower of Babel is poetic oral Exilic literature criticising Babylon around 600-400 BCE. Nothing to do with a literal story. While if is Etiology, it's not a scientifically correct one, nor was it meant to be. It's metaphorical and addresses theological issues.
