Is the crew of the Sea Shepherd (from Whale Wars) engaging in piracy?

Asked by: MeesterBob
  • The road to Hell...

The crew of the Sea Shepherd fleet have engaged time and time again in potentially destructive and definitely dangerous attacks on whaling ships, such as cutting lines or throwing explosives. The show presents a highly skewed version of the events, but reading the events from a Japanese perspective shows that many times the lives of the crews are in danger. The Japanese may be completely ignoring the IWC, but the Sea Shepherd is not the way to solve the issue.

  • These people are not being intelligent

What you see on the show is just glorified, not the full story or how it really happens. These people are just glorified vigilantes, not the police. If they want whaling to stop they can fight it in other means. They do not need to put both themselves, and the people their fighting in danger.

  • It puts people in danger.

It puts not only the whaling boat in danger but is also endangering the Sea Shepard, doing violent crimes themselves just to save a whale . They are not the police and they don't have the authority to do this. They do not have the right to do this. A.
