  • It is fair

People deserve it. They will get out of jail and just keep on killing, its not something you cant stop it. There aren't a bunch of crimes that list for death penalty but the few there are is what the people deserve for doing what they did. Plus, its a fair way not like we are torturing them to death or something.

  • Absolutely and 100 percent fair!

For those who commit the ugliest crimes and give themselves the right to prey on others to torture and kill them; they deserve a worse punishment than just a death penalty. They should be tortured the same way they have done to their victims then have their lives taken away from them as well.

  • I think it is fair in very extreme cases.

I think that the death penalty is used way too much, but in some cases it is necessary. Some people are just truly evil and don't deserve to live anymore. If someone gets life in prison, then tax payers have to pay for him to live a cozy life until he dies. What kind of punishment is that really?

  • Fair for the worst of the worst

The death penalty, when it comes to the worst of the worst criminals, is a fair form of punishment. Unfortunately there are people in this world who are set on doing evil and will not stop until someone stops them. Serial rapists and killers frequently fall into this category and if it were not for the death penalty would either sit in prison until the day they die, wasting tax payers money, or be released early to continue to pray on innocent people. Why allow this to happen?

  • The Death Penalty Is Not Fair

The death penalty is not a fair punishment. I'd go as far as saying that it is immoral. Taking a life is wrong no matter how you look at it. There are many more options and resources that could be utilized in these types of situations. Nobody deserves to have their life taken, not even criminals.

  • Its not fair because...

    Mentally ill people commit capital crimes and wouldnt do things like this if they were not mentally ill. Njlnklnlnlnlnlnlnlnlnlkjnjnjnj mkl;mlk m k k k k k k k k k k k k k k k k k k k k k k k k k k k k k k

  • A person could always be innocent, it's expensive and doesn't prevent crime.

Statistically, 1 out of every 25 death penalty receivers are actually innocent and there are many cases where people are found to be innocent of their crime decades later with better technology. Does it really bring justice? Does it really do any good? Two wrongs don't really make a right. Statistics also find that the death penalty isn't a deterrent for criminals and they show that the death penalty is very expensive, surprisingly even more so than letting them live for the rest of their life in prison. They need that prison time to reflect on their actions instead of getting an easy ticket out and probably never thinking about it.

If you support the cops that murder blacks in the street but you defend the use of the death penalty you are a bitch. Currently, blacks are 200% more likely to be impoverished than any other race. That also means 200% more likely to go to jail, or to be killed by the police. Sentencing them to life is a better alternative than killing them because they had no alternative. Fuck white people

  • Racist and cruel

The death penalty was made to kill undesireables. Most people that get on death row are from poor neighborhoods or they are "minority" in America. Its a Jewish plot to kill off gays spics and niggers same with aids. Quit being hypocrites America. If you kill people for killing others, you're just as bad as the niggers or spics committing the crimes.

  • Fuck niggers they need to die

  • The death penalty

Yeah let's kill people because they made a mistake when really we can just put them in a high security prison and give them life without parole. Think about the family of the one being executed and imagine if you were them. Then the family can visit their loved one in prison and not miss him and become depressed over his death. Life is a human right!

  • People really shouldn't be beat

You should be put into jail for a long time instead of being beat to death
maybe after the fifth time you'd be put into death penalty but any other time that you would be put into jail after commiting a crime you shouldnt do when you get out of jail.

  • Where there is life, there is hope. Where there is death, there is darkness.

Execution. Death penalty. Killing another for his mistakes. Taking away the life of someone’s daughter, son, mother or father. Not allowing them to have a chance of changing their ways for the better.

To end someone’s life voluntarily, by any means, when his or her time has not yet come, is like ending a book halfway through the story, or like spilling paint on an unfinished canvas, creating something that is of no value to anyone. I am unable to support the death penalty, as it is immoral, unethical and does not really benefit anyone.

Firstly, it is morally wrong. It is taking away a life, something that we only get one of. Since the death penalty was reintroduced in 1976, 82 inmates have been freed from Death Row due to wrongful conviction. That's 1 Death Row inmate found to be wrongfully convicted for every 7 executed. Think of how many prisoners on death row have been wrongfully executed for no reason at all.

Secondly, it cost’s far more to execute prisoners than to have them kept in prison for life. It cost around $1-2,000,000 dollars per person in order to cover the costs for defense lawyers, appeals, and maximum security on a separate death row wing. However, it cost a ‘mere’ $500,000 to have a prisoner kept in prison for life under normal circumstances.

Thirdly, it is inhumane. There have been cases where prisoners have been left, gasping for air before having massive heart attacks 1-2 hours after the conviction. Or other cases where prisoners have been known for sitting up and mumbling in pain for up to an hour and a half before being pronounced as ‘clinically dead’.

Lastly, it does not genuinely benefit anyone. For example, on the 17th of April 2005, nine Australians were arrested in Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia, for trying to smuggle 8.3 kg of heroin from Indonesia to Australia. As a result, Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran, two of the nine were sentenced to death and are now currently awaiting their execution. However, after speaking to the local Balinese when I was there a month ago, they do not want the execution, fearing there will be a backlash from Australia and therefore decreasing the trade between the two countries. This will mean the percentage of poverty; hunger and homelessness will increase in communities as their resources and economy decrease.

Overall, execution is a cruel sentence that should not be made by man. We are all merely humans, making decisions unbeknownst of whom it could affect or what consequences could arise. We are not the one’s responsible to decide a person’s fate or to rid of their prospect in changing for the better. Where there is life, there is hope. Where there is death, there is darkness.

It's hard for me to say. To be honest, I think some people deserve worse than death for what they've done while they're still alive. I know criminals are killed to try and deter others from committing the same crime and also being killed. However, it doesn't punish the criminal in my opinion. Once they're dead, that's it. They're done with.

I think if they've committed some horrible crime (e.G. Genocide, Serial Rape, Serial Homicides, etc.) Then they deserve much worse than just death.
