  • EU Eventually Leads to World Unification

The European Union is a step in the right direction towards world peace. Expanding the EU, along with other unified regions such as North America, Africa and South America will eventually lead to a coalition of nations and world peace. The EU is trying to mimic the United States and hopefully the union will lead to world peace.

  • I agree with previous poster.

Completely circumvents member country's government authority. Imposes tariffs in order to stay alive. The E.U. Is a cancer set upon European nations by the United States of America. For centuries these countries made pacts together and protected themselves. They can do just that without corporate E.U. Controlling them. The E.U. Is an awful idea made worse in reality.

  • There are too any issues for it to be good for the UK.

Lets start with the extremely controversial "Tampon Tax" issue. 5% VAT on all sanitary products for women, claiming they are not essential. All 28 leaders in the EU came to an agreement to abolish it. This had to be presented to the European Commission, because national leaders couldn't possibly make their own decisions for their country, could they? The EU Commission decided that the tax would stay in place, going against the wishes of all of the leaders. Hardly fair, is it?

How about immigration? Yes, we do go to Europe and live there. But you'll find that UK citizens support themselves, and buy private properties, not adding to the housing crisis. It's estimated that we received 333,000 net immigrants in the last year. Obviously, less people are leaving than are arriving, and it's impossible for a small nation, who is already struggling under a population increase, to support these with our national services, such as the NHS. In places such as London, this has helped with the increases in house prices, pricing young families out of London.

It's estimated that my generation will not be able to get onto the property ladder, without help from our families and getting into large amounts of debt. If our population continues to grow at these unsustainable rates, how will it be possible for us to even rent, are we expected to live at home until we're 30, maybe even 40, before we can afford to move away? Undeniably, the increase in population is a factor in this.

The EU does not keep the peace in Europe. NATO and the UN are responsible for this. The EU have not helped in Crimea, or Ukraine, haven't done anything to help alleviate the terror threat faced by many European countries, what did they do in the Ingushetia war? What about acting to try and stop the wars in Iraq, or Afghanistan? They haven't helped.

  • The EU will lead to Unrest and Riots

The EU is undemocratic and has the political power to completely reshape its member states. If you take away people's democratic rights, and force them into policies, then there could very easily be riots. Already there have been anti EU riots in Germany, France, Austria and Greece. All member states have to pay huge sums of money to stay in the EU, including the bailout funds for the collapsing Euro project. People are beginning to wonder 'Where has our democracy and money gone'.
