Is the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution (the right to bear arms) worth keeping?

  • The Second Amendment is worth keeping but could use alterations.

The Second Amendments intent is worth keeping. We are a nation of freedoms and the freedom to protect ourselves from the tyranny of government should never be taken away. With that said, we need to acknowledge that with that option comes great responsibility. You do not need an arsenal to defend your home and you do not need assault riffles to hunt. There is a thing called overkill and if we change the laws to reflect the time we can keep the guns off the streets and give the average person a better sense of safety and less a need to carry enough guns to arm a third world nation.

  • Yes, but it is only a right.

The Second Amendment is essential to the freedom in our country because it gives us the right to have the means to defend ourselves against a threat or an act of aggression towards our country or its citizenry. It is important that we have that right as citizens because neither our own government or other countries can impose a rule upon us that we are against, instead we would have the means to overthrow that rule. I don't think people should be questioning the Second Amendment, but instead should be questioning the difference between everyone actually having a gun that is not needed and having the right to have one if it is needed.

  • We Should Keep It

The Second Amendment is a very important one and should be kept. Why would we want to get rid of an amendment that let's us know what type of rights we have with guns? I think it would be stupid and become very controversial if it was abolished. It would be more trouble than anything else.

  • The Second Amendment is a very important one and should be kept.

The only ones that would benefit from not having this constitution would be the criminals. Why would we want to get rid of an amendment that let's us know what type of rights we have. The entire thought of removing the 2nd amendment sickens me, what would our founding fathers think of how our country has turned out?

  • Yes, it is for our protection!

With great freedom comes great responsibility. As citizens, we have a responsibility to properly use guns for hunting and protection. If we abolish the second amendment, crime will rise just like in Canada and in Europe. All the law abiding citizens will turn in their guns, but the criminals will not. Their will no longer be a fear for criminal activity and crime will rise!
