I strongly believe that the Senate was being fair to Rex Tillerson in his confirmation hearing. The U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations must probe ExxonMobil’s record of questionable oil deals, attempts to undermine anti-corruption policies and allegations of misleading the public on climate change. This is vital before approving his appointment.
Rex Tillerson is a rich CEO who has never had any concern for anything other than his own pockets. The Senate is asking him the tough questions that need to be asked. If this man is going to be the leading ambassador to our country, he needs to prove that he is equipped to do the job.
People in the Senate just like to pretend that they are tough guys. They give a hard time to people that they don't like, when they all know that it doesn't matter in the end. The Republicans control the Senate and ultimately the person gets confirmed. It's fair for the Senators to speak their peace.
The Senate is not being fair to Rex Tillerson in his confirmation hearing. In fact, all of Trump's nominees are undergoing far more scrutiny than any of Barack Obama's ever did. Face it, had Obama's nominees faced the same scrutiny anyone doing so would be labeled a racist. Nevermind that it's not true, but it is the narrative of the day.
