Is the world a victim of American Imperialism?

Asked by: Tiimow
  • Oh, yes indeed.

When so called 'Free Trade Agreements' include stipulations such as 66% of domestic television - including news - has to be American, I'd say definitely yes! And their cultural invasion, becoming virtually a cultural rape, goes MUCH further, including that garbage they call food, their substandard products, their substandard norms, of various kinds, or their Disposition of Armed Forces so-called 'agreements'.

  • "American Exceptionalism" my foot!

  • The United States is acting as if it is the only country in the world.

Being an economic and military might, U.S. does whatever it wants without considering other countries. Take for example what it does to Iraq and other countries, and most recently, it was about to act against Syria without remorse. U.S. is everywhere in the world. It decides on its own. It influences other countries for its self-interests.

  • Not just American, but imperialism--yes

American War Crimes (top 7): http://viewmixed.com/top-7-us-massacres-in-history/1890. ESPECIALLY the war crimes in the Philippes. Sick. US war crimes in Afganistan/Iraq--http://www.Globalresearch.Ca/us-atrocities-and-war-crimes-cover-ups-in-afghanistan/5358140 Things US ignored: http://www.ryot.org/atrocities-the-u-s-totally-ignored/350341 Haiti---https://www.Wsws.Org/en/articles/2010/01/pers-j21.Html For good measure ---- http://www.globalresearch.ca/bp-the-unfinished-crimes-and-plunder-of-anglo-american-imperialism/21112 American imperialism has far-reaching, horrible consequences. However, as part of a larger schema of colonialism, the American imperialism has a lot to answer for.

  • The world has been effected by it, but it isn't a "victim".

Victim would imply the world has lost more than it has gained from American influences. That is far from the truth; the world has benefited GREATLY by advances in technology, science, medicine, infrastructure, defense, economics and finance, human rights and social welfare, and countless other fields that has been largely spearheaded by US investors, businesses and the American government itself.

  • It has nothing to do with the rest of the world

I love in another country and we are really not that badly affected by the US and how they think or act. We do our thing and they do their thing. I think Americans must be pretty self centred to think the rest of the world really cares that much about what they do.

  • American cultural Imperialism or "Americanization"

Is a good topic to hear about the different views of you all. I believe the world is NOT a victim of American Imperialism because I can see many people/groups who are resistant to American cultural items. However, there are also many who promote American cultural items. What is you say about this topic?
