  • There is a clear difference

Pornography requires no imagination as the visuals stimulate you almost automatically, whereas erotica leaves the reader to imaging what they read. I would argue that erotica actually helps one in their sex life by giving the power to imagine, recall methodologies of "talking dirty", etc. While pornography creates the image of an ideal woman that can almost never be reached in reality, erotica leaves everything open to the imagination hence not causing the problems men face today after viewing porn. Additionally, pornography creates an entire industry of abuse (essentially filmed prostitution) which erotica, obviously, does not.

  • There are small differences.

I believe there is some small and subtle differences between the two. Porn is created for the sole purpose of stimulating people who want to look at it, there is very little merit to it beyond that purpose. While erotica also has that purpose, it can be created in a way that gives it artistic merit beyond it being simply erotic art.

  • Yes, there is a difference.

I consider erotica to be in the category of soft porn, which means that it has a story line and could be something that a woman might be able to enjoy. Porn is hard porn and is a distinct category in which there is no real story line and there is often violence against women or child abuse.

  • Erotica is has a story

Erotica is generally pornographic, though it doesn't have to be graphic, but could include no sexual behavior at all. For example, a scene of a couple kissing and touching one another could be erotica, maybe more than suitable for television, yet not quite pornographic. Erotica creates a story to provide arousal, porn is all visual. Porn could have a scene, and even a simple story, but it is just a setting for the sexual acts. Erotica actually has a story behind it, not just a set with a few lines.

  • Porn and erotica are different

Porn is just sex. Erotica tells a story and has a background. There are more aesthetics and feelings in erotica. While porn is just for the sex act, erotica builds a scene and pulls you in. You learn who the characters are and what brought them together. It's more sensual.

  • There is a difference between erotica and porn

There is a difference between erotica and porn. They are both one in the same if you ask myself. However, Porn features explicit scenes of actual sex and erotica shows scenes of simulated sex and/or non-explicit scenes of real sex. Erotica also (usually) attempts to have at least a semblance of a story, however lame that it might be.

  • Creation intended for arousal

The brain is the biggest erogenous zone. The proponents of a difference between the two claims that erotica is more sensual, and exercises more emotional qualities. This is like saying the hand carved a dildo is erotica, but the one made on the factory assembly line is porn. One may be a little more refined than the other but they serve the same purpose. Neither would be appropriate in an adolescent sex ed class, where as a medical diagram is obviously neither and is okay.
