Yes, there is a flaw in the educational system when adults do not retain basic math and English skills because after years in the school, people are still unable to learn basic educational skills. The act that many adults are still illiterate shows that the school systems are not teaching students properly and changes need to be made to the country's educational system.

  • If you're not learning the basics, there really is something wrong.

Let's face facts. Our education system is broken. It is tragic to see how many people fail to know basic skills. It does seem like there are schools in this country that will pass students to the next grade just because of their age. More needs to be done to make sure students learn what they need to learn before they advance and the curriculum gets too far ahead of them. One of the biggest challenges is that our system is still pretty reliant on parental and community involvement. When parents sometimes CAN'T be there and the community isn't active, schools fail. We need to find a better way.
