Is violence in the media a cause of increased violence in our society?

  • Violence creates more violence

Violence creates more violence. Many kids do not see the difference between right and wrong. Drug abuse in the media also promotes more drug abuses, people in media are very powerful because they can shape society through their words and what they put on screen. People should promote education and math.

  • Yes, The Media Plays a Role In Violence

While there is a large step from watching violence and actually committing it, the reality is that the media portrays models for our relationships. By creating relationships that are absent forgiveness, mercy and other peaceful gestures, people don't learn how to be peaceful, just combative. Ridiculing and humiliating others, insensitivity are all on display. While I don't believe that contemporary media will compel someone to commit murder, the way in which i the media model and teach how people treat each other will.

  • It does not cause violence

It does not change because if u play Call of Duty, it does not mean you are good at using guns. Playing FIFA does not make u better at soccer. Unless if it is a game that teaches u something like WII Fit but Call of Duty or GTA IV or V does not teach you anything.

  • The contribution of imitation

To attenuate critics, a certain amount of violence can be tolerated. But, if there is too much, or if the hero has recourse to violence in a specific situation in all episodes, this causes damage. When someone is viewing something, he is absorbing information which in turn helps in the shaping of his personality and in the constitution of his subconscience. The reflexes are centered around examples. The choice is ours

  • It doesn't change our society

I'm not a huge gamer but in my opinion There is no reason because the games don't inspire people on doing drugs, being a murder or being a rapist. Take GTA V, you can do a race not killing and it doesn't change unless they are hecka stupid. You have to disagree

  • It doesn't effect the society

I'm not a huge gamer so I don't support games but people saying it effects our society is so stupid. Take Call of Duty, I never played it but i know it is about shooting. If you play, it does not make you any better at using guns. Playing Madden or Fifa does not make you any better at playing American football or Futbal.

  • No, violence is down.

A lot of crime is down due to the wonderful job of our police forces. The media perpetuates violence because it sells in the news media. Stories that were never before heard are now prominently on national news. This gives people the perception that violence is increasing when it has actually reduced.

  • People are the only ones to blame for violence.

Although someone may be influenced by a game or a show, it is the PERSON that commits the crime. We can't go around blaming other things for our actions. People are idiots, not entertainment. If someone in their right mind can go and kill someone, they need help. It is because they are mentally screwed up, not because they played an hour of Black Ops or watched a war movie.

  • Violence in Media: NOT the Biggest Factor in Increased Crime

Violence in media has been on an uptick for several decades now. Although it is possible that a human, adult or child, can be influenced by violent video games or movies, it is not a reason or excuse after real-life violence has been committed. Millions of people all over the world are exposed to violence in media all the time, but not all of these people are going to mimic what they see, unless they have a predisposition to violence.
