The increased military and intelligence cooperation of the U.S. and Russia will not allow the Islamic State to successfully carry out jihad anywhere, especially in a country with as strong of a military as Russia. I do not believe that the Islamic State has the resources to take over a country as large and militarily strong as Russia.
The Islamic state will not succeed in carrying out Jihad in Russia. The United States and Russia are two of the most powerful nations in the world with a great military and intelligence reservoir. Once they carry out their actions of putting a stop to ISIS Attacks, their allies will likely jump on board as well. If anyone can put an a stop to the Islamic state, it is them, and ISIS will not have the resources to combat a group of nations more powerful than themselves.
The United States alone is a force to be reckoned with. Russia has one of the most powerful militaries in the world as well. If these two super powers team together, it will be really difficult to take them down. The jihad will have one foiled plot after another. The Islamic State doesn't seem to have sufficient resources for ongoing attempts.
No, jihad (as I understand the concept) will not succeed, because it is violent and violence never wins in the long run. An attempt to attack others based on religion or beliefs is extremely misguided and will be thwarted in the end. And yes, in addition neither Russia nor the U.S. military and intelligence organizations will stand for it.
