Israeli raid on Gaza flotilla: Was Israel justified in seizing the flotilla?

  • Yes, Israel is being mistreated.

Yes, Israel was justified in seizing the flotilla, because Israel is bullied by the rest of the region. Israel needs to take a hard stance with other countries in the area. The other nations want to push Israel into the sea, because they do not believe Israel has a right to exist. Israel has the right to protect itself.

  • Israel is only responding to fire

Hamas, a terrorist organisation, has been somehow justified by world leaders. Yet people forget that holding this flotilla Hamas could be involved and therefore puts Israel's citizens in great danger. Furthermore, one of Israels main priorities is to have a safe land with a substantial security. Yet this could bypass this system and the flotilla, if Hamas were somehow involved, would put the security forces in danger. Israel have to plan for everything, and as I say better safe than sorry!

  • The flotilla was entering restricted waters

The reason for the blockade is that Hamas a terrorist organization which openly calls for the destruction of Israel and the Jewish people control Gaza. Israel cannot risk unrestricted importation of goods into Gaza, which why they operate several crossings into the strip. Israel wanted the flotilla not to enter and told them to bring in the goods through the land crossing. They refused and entered anyways and it turned out that the flotilla did carry weapons. IDF did not attack the flotilla but stopped it. They also ended up importing the goods from the flotilla into the Gaza through the land crossings, obviously with the exception of the weapons.

  • Israel was under threat of attack

There may have been humanitarian supplies on the boat but it also was carrying weapons that would be used against Israel. If a country is under threat of attack it has the right to take necessary action to defend itself. If you saw the videos, it should be clear the people on the flotilla were not peaceful.

  • Israeli War Crimes

The Raid on the Gaza flotilla was a war crime as, the flotilla was unarmed, was meant for humanitarian purposes and lead to the deaths of innocent civilians. Israel has a right to exist, but not to bully the Palestinians. The Flotilla had every right to pass through the blockade and the Israeli raid was a war crime.

  • The raid against international law

No, the Israeli raid on the Gaza flotilla was not justified. It was a humanitarian relief mission that was simply trying to ameliorate the people of the Gaza strip who are being starved to death by the Israeli blockade. The Israeli justifications about possible weapons and other contraband has proven to be false. If Israel wants to avoid such situations in the future, they have to stop the siege of Gaza.
