Jimmy Carter on NSA: 'America has no functioning democracy.' Agree (yes) or disagree (no)?

Asked by: chrumbelievable
  • Yes, Jimmy Carter is correct.

We call what we have a democracy. But today in the United States there is no real democratic process. We get two candidates to pick from who are not that different from each other. The congress does nothing and when it does is basically bought by big corporations and wealthy individuals.

  • It seems right now America has no functioning democracy

Look at approval numbers for congress, they're absurdly low and even when things are going relatively well still typically are poor. People are not being represented, absolutely nothing gets done in Washington because one party has embraced the "if I can't run it how I want then I'm going to kill it" mentality towards this country. That is not what the country wants, it isn't even close.
