JK Rowling drops from billionaire to millionaire due to charitable giving: Should she receive an award?

  • Yes, she should berewarded.

Not many billionaires would love to see their accounts reading anything less than a billion, but for this great lady she understands that money is not every, that true joy does not come accumulating money but through giving and changing peoples live. She should be awarded with a humanitarian award.

  • No, she should not.

This a good thing that she did, but she does not deserve an award. If an award would encourage other people to do the same thing, than it would be a good thing to give her, but not simply for her own glory and gain. Also, she still has millions of dollars.

  • JK Rowling has plenty of money to give

Many people make charitable donations. Giving is much more of a sacrifice for people of significantly lower net worth than JK Rowling. If any person or people deserve an award for giving, it should be the people with less money, who still give. It is less significant when wealthy celebrities give.

  • No, Ms. Rowling should not receive an award for dropping from the ranks of being a billionaire.

JK Rowling believes that, “You have a moral responsibility when you’ve been given far more than you need, to do wise things with it and give intelligently.” The fact that her excise of that responsibility has resulted in a reduction of about $200 million in her net worth has already rewarded her with many more new fans for her books.
