Legacy admissions: Should legacy admissions systems be banned?

  • Legacy admissions systems should be banned.

Legacy admissions systems should be banned. They give an unfair advantage to kids just because they had a relative that went there in the past. That does not make it automatic that they get in and some one that is more highly qualified than they are does not get in.

  • Yes, legacy admissions systems only reward people with money and put others at a disadvantage.

Money should have no bearing on acceptance into a university. Admissions should only focus on a person's skills, abilities, grades, and application overall. Legacy admissions systems put less affluent students at a disadvantage and give students with money or friends in high places a leg up when they may not even deserve it in the first place.
