Legalization of adult incest: Can adult family members engage in sexual activity from a position of equal power?

  • Not sure about the second question but it should be legal

Adults enter into unequal relationships all the time. S&M. Joining the military. The capitalist workplace is itself an example. Should we adopt communism? As long as the relationship is consensual it should be allowed. I'd be more worried about the issue of children but if we ban adult incest on the grounds that children have a higher chance of defects (which is still a less than 50% chance, don't remember the number but far less than 50% even between siblings or parent and adult child) then we also need to ban adults who happen to carry the same recessive genes for diseases from not just marrying but even having sex, meaning for instance if a man has hemophilia he would be a criminal if he knowingly slept with a woman who carries a copy of the gene. If we don't do that we're not being consistent and hence not being fair so we should just legalize incest.

  • No, they can not.

The question is interesting in a way, adults should have a right to make their own decisions, however; this could affect future children and any kids who see it and parents don't want their kids exposed to it. In the long run this should not be legal because it causes many health problems if the two adults were to reproduce.

  • No, Genetic Issues Exist

I believe that adult members of the same family should not engage in incestual sexual activity. Even if protection is used, it poises risks to a potential fetus if pregnancy occurs. Genetic mutation and diseases could occur during incest, as well as risks to the mother.

Furthermore, it presents a difficult line to draw concerning tradition of both intimate relationships and familial relationships.
